Why is Fives considered so great?

I have fives 7 starred gear nine. I do not have any of his abilities omega(d) yet. To be honest where I have him now he seems "Meh." I have him on my arena team, but as soon as I find someone better, he might be gone.

Thoughts? Do I need to have him omega(d)? I never have any trouble with him in the arena. I typically finish in the top ten on my server, and to my knowledge only one other player in the top twenty uses him.

If you omega his basic he becomes a nice character. You'll even cause some noobs to whine on the forums. If you don't want to use him, don't. He's not nearly the best character in the game

Counter and assist and health pool. He is also slow with medium power.

Get him to gear x and he is solid... Rey at gear x can beat the rancor on level 3 by herself.

He's the best defensive hero, so he won't be the best offensively.

If you have his omega basic and pair him with omega stealth Leia, you will know why so many people say he is great.
