I have never tried this, but curious if anyone who is near the top of PVP has an answer because I am positive someone has the answer (for obvious reasons)....
When you are in first place, it gives you the option to play another player again (such as 2nd place, 3rd Place, etc). If you lose that match, do you lose first place? If you TIE that match, do you lose first place?
Would love to know the answer to this.
