4 Star Garbage?

Sorry, tittle is for attention. I've recently pulled a Darth Maul from the 350 Crystal pack and a Tarkin from the bronze pack and wanted to ask your opinion:

Is there a huge discrepancy between a four star versus like 6-7 star ? I feel like I should just focuse on my farmable characters and not bother using my resources on those two toons they will stay 4 stars because I'm ftp and doubt I'll ever collect enough shards to promote them.

It feels like some 4 star or less can be really effective just because of their specialist abilities like old ben, poe Dameron, quigon and poggle as they provide excellent support and control for other members in your team to do damage.

Tarkin might fit this role too due to huge debuff potential, bit I haven't seen anyone use him that much.

That's true. Farmable characters that can you can finish will give you more bang for your buck. There is quite a difference starting from 6 stars. Consider those two hobby projects and to use in pve.

Sorry what does pve stand for ? :0

Tarkin should be great in PvP but he isn't. I have him, and due to the AI getting boosted luck his offensive down ability is almost always resisted. Getting it on 0 or 1 character is normal, 2 is lucky, and 3 is almost impossible. Most of the time you just waste a turn. So I don't know about Maul, but don't bother with Tarkin unless they remove or decrease the boosted AI luck.

Maul is a Jedi killer he just got a buff so, I wouldn't count him out yet. I think ppl are to focused on the star level instead of the characters ability. Some 2* characters can destroy a 4* to 7* character on the right team. Unless your goal is to rank in the top 10 then I guess star level matters.

That's because stars are very important?

A 4 star Maul goes down in 2 hits, I love facing him.

Agreed , his special is devastating but he usually goes down before he is able to use it on me.

Star level is very important for glass cannons like maul.

Maul is one of the greatest disappointments in the game, imho.

He's my favorite character for pure output. He DESTROYS at his level. But, once pushing 50 he's starting to fall out of favor as he is getting too squishy without being able to be upgraded.

This doesn't even account for the cool animations and 'fun' factor of using him.

The best drop I've ever gotten out of a shipment has turned into the greatest disappointment because I have no way to keep him relevant. Bad design.

Actually, I think they are just keeping in lore. Maul starts out strong and cool in the movies, only to suffer a lame death at obiwan. Game Maul is true to lore.

So is Tarkin. His slowness to act was his major weakness in ANH.

Heck, even Leia's OPness is in lore, when you consider how accurate she is in the movies. And everyone disregards her, since she is the princess.

All in all, I am pleasantly surprised at how close to lore the characters are in terms of ability.

I have the same issue with Lando. He might be able to AOE every turn, but at 4*, it's not enough damage and he doesn't have enough health. Plus he's really slow.

Tarkin as a pure utility character is usable at 4*, although I'm not completely sold on him yet. Maul is ok up to the low 50s at 4*, but definitely falls off without star progression.

Maul is a straight up Jedi slayer. Takes care of Lumi with a poof. A full Jedi party can be nearly wiped by him.

    I love Maul.

    And, Lamp.

If you pick up a Chromium pack and get one of these difficult to upgrade characters, my opinion is that they aren't worth investing in unless you have deep pockets. You can only get Maul shards from Chromium packs. I wouldn't want to imagine how many you'd need to open to get Maul to 6* even...

Im at the point in the game where my farmable 4 star characters have hit 5 stars and are half way to 6. The power gap between 4 and 5 stars is about 200. Somewhat cause for concern.

What exact buff did he get? I was lucky enough to pull him out of a chromium and then leveled him up only to discover he is not farmable thus not viable for PvP. Although I still find him useful in GW and DS missions. (plus he is a really cool character)

Do you really think so? Maybe not for some like Mace Windu or Plo Koon, which are Jedi Masters and perform very sadly in the game. Also some others like Phasma which doesn´t even do anything in the time she appears in the movie results in being one of the most successful and widely used toons, and how do you explain that FOTP is a more viable glass cannon character than the Sith assassin Darth Maul himself?

    Not that accurate IMO

    7* does as well...

OP Maul might be useable at 4* max gear if you know you're going after a team of Jedi w/o AOE attackers and you have a guy like Poe to help protect him. AI might not focus him like they should. Just make sure you can swap him out in your last battle of the day so you're not defending with him. He can usually get focused out by two characters and at 4* against 7* there are a lot of them that will one-shot him.

Tarkin may be a nice B-team GW leader. He really helps Vader with the speed boost and someone like Stormtrooper and Veers can play havoc with another team's turn meter. But I don't see much value in that for PvP.

Tarkin ~ I really tried to keep him on my squad (5* Purple lvl 58) but in arena and GW he was just too slow for my team with current setup. He was my fav for a bit. His specials were really good one that takes their offense down & speed and the other AOE with turn decrease. His entry attack is strong also equal to a Luke & decent health. Problem was at speed 87 he just went last in my setup so every opponent already used their big special before I could take their offense down or health would be low and I couldn't use the AOE because of fear from counter.
If I had him at Leader with Empire his lead ability gives speed and would negate all these issues; however I do not have enough Empire firepower to use Tarkin effectively yet but there is a lot of potential. I've gone up against a rebel team with Akbar as lead bumping up speed. They had no healer and just destroyed my team since they all went before me even before Sid. Playing catchup with 1 player down and the others in need of heal makes the exchange tough.

If you can farm Kylo through cantina, you'll want to replace a weak Maul with him, even if they're both at four stars. The sheer difference in HP is enough, even before you consider Kylo's more flexible kit.

Yea he's nowhere near replacing my starting 5 and yes I would choose Ren over Maul as well 50/80 shards :)
