Happened to me too, wat i did was
Turn off wifi>restart device>restart router(dont need to but i did just incase)>load up the game and it started working fine again
I don't know what device you're using but I had the issue on an Iphone. I tried many ways but the only solution for me was:
Delete App > Power off device > Turn on device > Re-download game... Once you see that Game Center is logged in, you should be good to go.
