Thoughts on faction updates to character tags

I understand this would take a long time to implement and would significantly change squad structure and such but I'm curious what the community thinks about adding broader classification tags like Republic and Confederacy to certain characters(adding, not replacing or deleting other tags). It would certainly give exciting new squad possibilities and we've seen some minor forms of this with Plo Koon, Poggle and with Anakins rework.
