What determines the difficulty of who you face in GW?

PvP ranking?
Average character level of your entire roster?
Average character level of some number of your highest-level characters?
Average power rating of your entire roster?
Average power rating of some number of your most powerful characters?

RNGods? Considering that I'm lvl 48, my main squad is 45-47, and I've come across both a team of lvl 54-55s as well as a team of three lvl 35 characters with two lvl 1 characters, I'd say it's really up to the RNG who gets selected from your bracket. I noticed however, that if I do well in GW one day, I come across harder teams the next day. If I fail miserably, the teams seem to be a tad easier the next time. This reminds me of a similar system used in Marvel Puzzle Quest, where the difficulty of your bracket in an event depends on how well you did in previous events.

Sounds good, but people here boast about winning every day. Maybe they are just on top.

Unfortunately though it would mean the part of the game with the most strategy (usually I have auto battle on getting shards or gear, GW is the exception) actually doesn't matter whether you try or not; the game adjusts so you win as much as it wants you to.

I was getting my butt handed to me frequently, since my team hit lvl 50 I've only lost once I the last 15 matches, and that was more my fault than the opponents.
