Idea for mods and I don't think it's been suggested

Obviously this will not be a top priority as we understand what a massive amount of work is needed to get mods as they currently exist - fixed. But when that's done, consider the following:

Add an area for fine tune mod leveling. That is, choosing your secondary stats.

I wouldn't go with outright selection of secondaries... that'll lead to everyone making the exact same mod. However what would be cool is a "fine tuning" machine that you slot your mod into, and as you level it, it gives you a 25% chance to get the secondary of the machine you're at. Hoping for extra offence? Then level up your mod at the Offence fine tuner. Need more speed? Level up your mod while it's in the Speed fine tuner.

Of course you wouldn't just put them into the game immediately opened up for use... you'd set up challenges which will unlock each of the dozen or so secondary stat types... and further require beating each of those challenges at increasing difficulty to unlock the ability to fine tune higher dot mods.

So let's say what you want is for your mod to have secondary stats of speed, crit chance, tenacity, and offence. Hello Mega-Rey! OK, well you can certainly try for that. You start by taking your mod and going for the 1 in 4 chance of getting speed. Dang it! You got defense! OK, that mod goes on Chewy. Time to break out another of that same mod. You try again and get it! Huzzah! Now on to crit chance. You place your partially leveled mod into the crit chance fine tuner, and... Dang it! Defense again! Oh well, speed and defense for Poe. 3rd try... another blank mod and it's back to going for speed. You miss speed, but... lucky day! You got offence - one of your other targets! You level up in the Speed fine tuner again and... wow! Tenacity this time! Maybe this'll be the one! You level up while in the Speed fine tuner for secondary number 3 and.... well, I'll leave the rest to your imagination!

And it doesn't have to be only for mods that begin as grade E mods with no starting secondaries. Imagine having that grade A mod that already has a couple secondaries you like and being able to have a 25% shot at reinforcing one of them each try, 4 times??

As mods exist now, sure you'll get a handful of Blue Whales willing to level up the same mod a hundred times until they get some of the secondaries they want... but you'll get a LOT more of us willing to push to get that "perfect" mod this way I bet.

People going for the perfect mod would have no use for this, as A grade mods already display all four secondary stats.

TL;DR apparently? Gotta love the twitter generation!
  • Secondary stats are so low it's really not worth all this bother.

What do you think about the current mod business model?

It's terrible. They need to do several things to fix it before it's ok. Credits have become WAY to hard to come by, largely due to mods and their balloon cost, and drop rates need to go way up. They also need some serious rebalancing. Some are massively overpowered (speed) and some are massively underpowered (health.) And many of the secondary stats are completely useless at their current values.

This mechanism is something they've designed to be available to us starting at level 50. So drop rates are fine from the standpoint of anyone just now reaching level 50 and getting started. But we didn't get 30 levels of collecting these things. If we'd had the last 5 months, no problem. But since we've been given this feature 30 levels late, they need to make the drop rate 100% for a month or two.
  • Honestly and ironically..

All they need to do is increase the drop rate again.

Its win win for everyone and I bet it happens soon..

    Will be 50% or something
