PVP Tournaments Should Award Shards Not a Full Character After the First Run

I am really disappointed that the devs didn't change the tournament reward for the shoretrooper into just shards. In the first run I placed in the top 100 so I received a 3 star trooper. Now with the way characters convert into far less shards I would need to place 1st to get my shoretrooper to 7 stars. That is beyond ridiculous and completely frustrating.
The team should at least convert the shoretrooper character into the actual amount of shards it would take to get him to 3 stars with normal shard grinding in a place like the cantina. Instead I have little to no reason to seriously care about doing much in the tournaments when the ability to get my shoretrooper to useful starred level is completely unattainable.
