Shoretrooper Event Points Scaling

So I was left wondering exactly what determines how many points you get out of event victories. For instance, on the first day, one makes a ton of points per victory, yet on the last day it's much less. Is it only highest position reached based? Or? (I know it depends on kills and deaths: those are obvious).

It scales based on cumulative points difference between you and your opponent. As you get closer in total points to your available opponents the points that can be earned go down.
