Speed mods question - are they any good?

Hi,

just working on my mods again (trying to squeeze that last drop out of every penny I invest in them).

Got a couple of speed mods and went to work on where to use them, got tons of crit dmg and health and potency but speed is still something I've not yet worked a lot with (still don't have the toons for the 2nd speed mod challenge).

Soo I went and checked who I have my original speed mods on, the 1 dot ones....and it's rey and ahsoka. Hmm is this even worth it, I am thinking? aren't they better off with crit dmg/chance (with speed secondaries) or health (with speed)....It just seems that the 10% speed bonus for 4 slots is like too much to give up.....

Am I right? or are there cases where speed mods are useful, if so englighten me please (and thanks)!!!!!

    Speed mods are very good. If you can get a 4-5* speed mod arrow for instance, with speed as a main, that is one of the best mods in the game in my opinion. Speed/speed

    You have to have a great set of 5* speed mods with speed attribute. Otherwise, your 5* health mods with speed attribute may actually bring more speed, then speed mods without speed attribute. The thing is, speed mods give % speed to basic speed. So the overall increase is not as wonderful as you may think.
    But in long term, yeah, speed mods will rule your day for your damage dealers.

    The set bonus for speed mods is really terrible: it amounts to +3 or +4 speed per mod, which is less than a base secondary stat, or 1/10th of the main stat. Compare that to Potency (+5%, more than double the secondary stat, or 1/5th of the main stat), Crit Damage (~1/5th of the main stat) or Offense (~1/2 of the main stat).

    But despite being such a bad deal, there are cases where you still want them: If you really want to have the fastest whoever in the world, well, you need every bit of speed you can get. Also, being %-based, they're less bad for naturally quick toons (Yoda, Rey, Leia,...). And finally a few support toons don't have much gains from other stats, so speed is still the best you can give them, even if it's just a little bit of speed (i.e. non Attackers that also don't apply debuffs, like Jawa Engineer or Chirpa).

    If you need the extra to compete then yes but other then that no, 4 mod spots is too expensive in my mind to justify.

    Speed is king so I imagine if you are on a super competitive shard then you might need it.
