Ships protection and speed?

Does anyone know how to increase ship protection and speed through the pilot?

Do mod bonuses also work on the ship?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Mods only translate into crew power based on their rarity (stars-dots) and level. a 100 crew power increase from gear/levels/abilities/mods has exactly the same effect on the ship... the ships have predetermined multipliers on the crew power, so there is no way to modify them atm.

Basically a ship with the same power will be identical.
