Anyone else noticed the Republic faction filter?

Im sure that other people have probably noticed the Republic faction tag in the character filter screen. If not then have a look!

Im a small time star wars nerd, but can some of the big league nerds tell me what 'republic' characters we can expect from this?
I really hope it includes characters from the old republic ?

Don't get your hopes up.
There is currently a Republic tag in ships that is working. It is the clone wars era Jedi and clones at this point.

Having a Republic tag and then sub tags (e.g. all Clones are Republic, not all Republic are clones) would be great. You don't need to change existing skills, (e.g. Rex leader still only apply fully to clones) but you can add/tweak others that make sense to apply to all Republic.

I have a feeling it was mainly for ships factions and maybe some event down the line.
Similar to the Separatists tag they added that it was mentioned something down the line would use it.
