Galactic War Shard Drops

In the beginning when I was beating the Galactic War, I was only getting a character shard on the last level. We all know this is a guaranteed shard. However, since then I have also received a shard from the 8th, 10th and 11th battle in the Galactic War.

My question is, has anyone else experienced this? And what determines if you get these shards on earlier battles? I've completed 27 Galactic Wars to date and I'm wondering if the chances of shards dropping on earlier levels increases at certain win thresholds. Example: After 10 wins, you have a percentage chance of earning a shard on battle 11. After 15 wins, a chance to earn a shard on battle 10, and so on. What are your thoughts?

I've beaten GW 21 times but NEVER got any shards except the last stage?

I have received a couple on 11 here and there. One was a Leia shard.

I've received a few on battles 9 and 10.

I think I got a random shard around the 30 gw completions and couldn't quite believe it. Since then I think I have had 3 other occasions when I have received a random shard. Pretty sure it's all rng.

Yeah, seems random, only happened 2-3 times for me.
