Possible Yoda Masterstroke Bug

I noticed that when Grand Master Yoda uses his special ability "Masterstroke" against enemies with protection up as a result of Chief Nebit's basic ability, Yoda does not gain protection up. Protection up appears above the character's head as a positive status effect, so I would assume Yoda's masterstroke ability should copy that protection up buff.

Is protection up consideted a "unique" status effect? Yoda can't steal things like stealth, taunt, or I imagine, Frenzy. I wonder if this falls in the same vein.
