Non synergistic teams?

Just took a beating from a non synergised team. Poe, lumi, kylo, rey, and phasma. Apart from most of them being in the new movie, they don't have a lot in common. They were also 3500 power lower than me. Just didn't expect that, but once Poe taunted and rey went it was pretty much over. I guess I'm saying I would like leader abilities to be pretty specific to a group, rather than a boost to any group of dps you want to throw together.
