How does Crew Power calculated?

I have Wedge of higher power than JC. however JC has higher crew power compared to wedge....and JC's ship even has lower power than Wedge's. Thoughts?

JC crew power is higher due to special damage, just like Ackbar. As Ackbar would say, it's a trap, Power Rating does not equate to Performance.

Hmm....very interesting discovery after you mentioned it.
It turns out that for each ship, the crew power bonus is not applied to the same stats...some applies to phys atk, armor, some other has resistance, etc. But I still doesn't think that it should affect the displayed crew power in general, a stronger character should still have higher crew power as an indicator.
What constitutes what type/category of ships gets what type of bonuses? (agi/str/tac based or tank/support/attacker role) or completely unique to each ships regardless of their type?
