is there a limit to the amount of shards you can have before unlocking/leveling?

i have enough shards to unlock darth mauls ship, but i dont have darth maul
can i safely keep buying his ship shards? or is there a limit to the amount of shards i can have before unlocking/leveling in which i willl ose them?

Yeah 330 is the amount it takes to 7* a character or ship so theres no point going past 330 or you're just wasting currency.
