Learning about Arena Servers

After reading many forum topics and indulging on plenteous bags of popcorn (man, topics around here are entertaining) I'm going to finally ask the question I've been pondering about; what is the deal with separate servers in PVP, and could anybody possibly point me in the right direction towards a post that covers topics such as: How the servers work, From what levels are you put into new servers, and other general questions that can help me out being a new forum member.
A reason I'm asking this is to see what the future holds for me as I level up. As I read on the forums, I see people with squads quite a bit better than mine "happy" about placing in the top 200 in the Arena, because I place in the top 50 regularly (every day for the past week) with considerably low power. Once again, any help is appreciated, and I look forward to posting on the forums some more!

* I sincerely apologize if I posted this in the wrong subtopic.

  • To my understanding, you're placed in a server when you first start the game. You're dropped into a server with other players that started around the same time as you. This is attempt to give everyone an equal chance for rankings. You're not going to start the game at level one when there are level 70's in your server. The ones who play everyday and farm better teams eventually rise to the top of the rankings. If you're lucky, there won't be that many whales on the server. They generally buy hundreds of chromium packs and refreshes to star/level their characters up extremely fast.

Well that clarifies it like no other, it seems like I must have an easy arena server, hopefully it stays this way. Although it would be cool to, after we feel comfortable with our teams, switch servers to one where there actually are large whales so we can experience what it is like. Nonetheless, thank you.

  • I'd be happy if I could stay under rank 200 consistantly.

Will servers ever be merged? And does it affect GW and Arena player pool?

I was reading a post about common myths and misconceptions from an admin of some sort stating that CG and EA are not planning on merging them, and have never taken it into consideration

  • Merging servers is a desperate action took by developers in games where people do not play anymore. They wipe out inactive players and merge active ones. By far, It is not the case in GoH.

I'm in a server full of 7 star lvl 66-70 characters topping the leaderboards. I'm only rank 276 and can only choose to fight teams with 17k+ team power.

My girlfriend is in a server where the top players are 4-6 star lvl 55-60's. She's ranked 245 and going against teams with a average 10k power.

I started the day before new years and she started like 2 and a half weeks later, so i have no clue how they place you in servers but i wish i was on the server she's on. Lol
  • I hope they eventually put all cheaters on their own servers, place people who've spent a similar amount of money in servers together, and put all f2p players in the same servers. That'd even the arena playing field a little bit.
  • I dont know why merging is viewed as a bad thing, I think its a great idea

Im in a server with people who are level 70 in the 300 bracket, I dont think its fair that someone with a worse team then me has a easy time being #1 while im having a hard time staying in the under 200 bracket

Because you started playing long before others, and you have had more time to developed your team. They need to fight other people who has had the same time as them to farm their teams
