Mace Windu Rework Idea (Sith Counter)

We all know Mace needs a rework. I have an idea that changes him up quite a lot but I think fits his character as someone who utilizes both the dark side of the force (debuffs) and the light (buffs) and becomes a field controller. I try to make each move follow the Canon and spirit of Mace Windu. I also think this leads to many interesting strategies and scenarious with him. He becomes a Sith counter through this rework, while never needing to name the Sith in his skills.

*I bolded the most interesting mechanics he'd have*

Invincible Assault (Basic): Deal Physical Damage to Enemy with a 50% chance to inflict Tenacity Down. If target is debuffed ignore defense and gain 10% TM per debuff (up to 40%) on enemy. Refresh debuffs present (except Stun, Stagger, and Expose) for 2 turns.

Smite (Special, but 4 Turn Cooldown ): Deal Special damage to enemy, dispell all buffs, and inflict Stagger on target for 1 Turn. For each buff dispelled Mace gains 1 Heal Over Time for 3 turns. If target was debuffed, gain Speed Up.

Vapaad (Unique, Not leader!): When Mace attacks a debuffed enemy he gains 1 Heal Over Time for 3 turns and Inflicts each debuff he has on himself (if any) for 2 turns. When Mace is debuffed he gains 20% TM.

Shatterpoint (Unique): If an enemy is exposed, Mace Windu can ignore Taunt and see through Stealth. At the start of each of his turns mace Windu has a 30% chance to expose a random enemy. This cannot be resisted. When mace attacks an Exposed enemy Mace Windu inflicts the opposite debuffs of the buffs present on Mace for 2 turns and gains 25% TM.

Disclipline (Unique): Mace Windu gains 10% Defense, 10% Offense, 10% Counter Chance, and 10% Counter Damage per status present on him. Mace is immune to Daze.

Character Strategy: Mace now becomes a very field control type tank. He can control and use both buffs and debuffs to an extreme extent. He becomes more powerful as the battle goes on, making him a priority target, while HoTs work to keep him alive. As a debuff controller, he has powerful tools to fight Sith. Specific input on moves below:

Invincible Assault allows Mace to keep the pressure up with attacks that do more and more damage and refresh the opponents debuffs. It would also be the spark to activating and utlizing Vapaad.
Smite has it's cooldown increased, but now causes Stagger, a powerful debuff and the HoT's it provides is a great way to power his fifth ability (Discipline) and gives Mace speed up (could be useful with Shatterpoint).
Shatterpoint has had its rate nerfed a bit, but is now an extremely versatile and interesting ability which can be very different in many different scenarious. First if all it makes Mace potentially able to hit stealthed sith, but depending on the buffs you can put on mace, you can cripple an enemy character, or, if your opponent is smart, may not do much at all. But still, a great way for mace to make control with his buffs. Also interesting is how an enemy exposed doesn'tmean mace has to hit that same enemy but is still free to attack whoever he wants...
Vapaad ties everything together and makes him dangerous against debuffers like the sith. Debuff heavy teams will feed him TM so he's less succesptible to stuns (but not immune). Mace will inflict the same debuffs back against the enemy meaning that for example if he has shatterpoint active and ability block, he can ability block whoever he wants for 2 turns. Could be powerful in the right scenario.
Discipline is Mace's final trump card. Dazing would make Mace nearly completely useless as he is here, but this covers his most glaring weakness. This move also makes him much less ignorable. With Mace's smite on 4 turn cooldown he may not be that dangerous if you arent lucky on buffs and debuffs. He doesn't have a really strong gimmick like Palpatine or Maul. This gives him solid, well rounded power.

In Summary:
Basically mace would be a very well rounded character. But he may not be OP. Other than the occasional Stagger on Smite, he lacks an extremely powerful special like Boba, Maul or Palpatine or even TFP. He relies mostly on single target brute force alone to make his point, which us true to his character. The buff and debuff control would actually be a lot harder to use than it seems, and not nearly as OP. It would take skill and luck to load Mace with the right Buffs and Debuffs. But thats what I like about this, the countless scenarious this opens up, which could be really fun. Mace is still gonna be slow and his damage as it is, average. I think this could be whats necessary to making him a force to be reckoned with. I also really like how he becomes a Sith counter without ever really a direct Sith line in his text.

Lemme know what you think!

  • I updated his rework a lot (for my own amusement :( ) and also im adding my story explanations for why I made his rework and how it fits his character!

Story Explanations: Invincible Assault is an application of Vapaad, where Mace overwhelms the enemy and their defenses with fierce quick attacks not letting up and gains more and more ferocity as they wear down. In this rework he definetly shows that.
Smite Is Mace giving his all and crushing his opponent, force augmented strike and all. It makes sense it would stagger them and give mace an advantagous position.
Vapaad I think, actually comes from one's own darkness, not your opponents. BUT, like in the palpatine fight darkness feeds darkness thus, Mace uses his own darkness (debuffs) to ravage his opponents by inflicting them on his enemies! This makes him strong versus the debuffing Sith. Remember him reflecting shock back to palpatine in their fight?
Shatterpoint Mace's incredible technique allows him to use the force to find and destroy the weakness in the opponent. Expose is a weak sort of debuff. I imagine Shatterpoint utilizing mace's strengths (buffs) in a much more decisive blow. In my move set however, activated shatterpoint doesnt force mace to hit the exposed character and effectively allows him to hit steathed characters if it activates. I think this is fair since shatterpoint refers to mace seeing with the force, anyway. Meaning being able to see more clearly a stealthed character.
Discipline is just a sum of Mace's personality. He was one of the most tenacious, talented and disciplined Jedi that the order ever had. He had unbreakable willpower, could fight through his weaknesses and pain, and made sure to waste no time making full use of his strengths.
  • I just wanted to post here to share my agreement with you that Mace (and Jedi in general) need to become stronger. I doubt that this will happen though...Why give an existing easy to farm toon great abilities when everyone already has Mace? The debs wouldn't make money off this...

Considering he beat Sidious in 1 on 1 combat until JKA betrayed him, I like the idea of anti sith. Either way, he was too important or a Jedi to be so useless outside of fleet.
  • Mace needs a rework; I can agree with that. But, a sith kill....no way....why? Because he never did. Palps was toying with mace to invoke Anakin to action. Palps also dispatched two of the best lightsaber specialists within seconds before toying with poor mace.
  • Darth Sidious is a special case, he is in a whole different league. I think most DS users would find Vapaad unbeatable due to it's unique characteristics.

I do like the idea of an anti-Sith specialist Jedi Windu.
  • Make mace dispell act like boba execute and give him more speed. Done
