Championship by faction

I'd like to see a game mode where we would be forming pure-faction teams (e.g. First Order or Jawas) and compete in a tournament-style either against similar teams (the First-Order tournament, the Jawa tournament etc) or against each other (Empire against Rebels etc).

In the second option, I'm really curious what would be the strongest faction. Based on teams I see do well in Arena, and assuming fully developed teams (zeta & co), I would bet on something like:
  1. Rebels
  2. Jedi
  3. Sith
  4. Resistance
  5. First Order
  6. Droids (incl. Jawa Engineer)
  7. Empire
  8. Clones
  9. Scoundrels
  10. Bounty Hunters
  11. Jawas
  12. Geonosian
  13. Phoenix
  14. Ewoks
  15. Tusken

  • I think if you went full faction, Empire is #1 potentially - Sith at #3 ...they may be #1 as well and that includes if it were live player head to head. Team matchups for Sith v Empire would come in to play, but I'd give a slight edge to empire right now. Rebels have a very strong top few, but they aren't deep and losing GK and Rex from the Chaze / R2 squads would hurt. I'd put rebels down at #3 ..

    i'm with @JohnnySteelAIpha
    #1 empire
    #2 sith/jedi (can't decide)
    #3 rebels
I also can't believe you put phoenix (a 6 member faction) below geonosions (a 4 member faction), haha. They're also easely better than jawa's.

@pchen3082 Lol true, that says how much they're on the radar... I'd say close to Jawas? At least they have 5, so that's better than the insects...

You have a higher opinion of Empire than me I see. Rebels as Chaze, Wiggs, R2 is still quite a team. I think Sith kills Empire, and Jedi is a challenge for both of them.
Since there's no live mode, it would have to be the score of an equal number of battles player vs. AI both ways, like in a soccer championship or so.

And Phoenix: Yes, they really failed to impress me ;) They probably win against 4 Geonosians though, mostly just by having a 5th. Against 5 Jawas, much less sure...

I like this idea a lot-- back when tournaments were flopping I suggested something similar as a way to rescue them and actually make them interesting.

I think full Rebel - assume Chaze / Wiggs / R2 - Under a Tarkin lead Thrawn will move first before any rebels - Fracture Baze - now that team has no dispel and no spam taunt to protect Chirrut. R2 can smoke screen, but DT will just remove that right away. Wiggs can't OHKO through Shoretrooper's taunt with no dispel since Baze is pinned. They also only have one cleanse, Chirrut, and Tarkin can put O / CC down on everyone. You could slot in various 5th empire characters. I actually think it would be a curb stomp by the empire.
