To all of us.

Prev1
I think it's important to clarify, as well as Devs did, few things in this game.

This game is a strategic game (to anyone who doubt it), it's not a perfect game (as I assume 100% of games or things in life) and the goal of this game is to being the best in every part of it.
Some of us pay, some of us don't. That's life, some have a better start than other, some have other priorities, etc...

But this game is also about collecting and to collect something doesn't simply mean to obtain it as a trophy, it also means to work on it, to make it better and even more. And as this game is supposed to be a Fan game for most of us, I would also say that the goal is having fun.

So here's my point :

Yes, gear and blue prints grind exist and this game is about farming. A lot of us complain about it, but things are done in the long run by Devs. How fun would it be without restrictions on obtaining all chars, gears and credits ?

Yes, Territory battle are exclusively Light Side at the moment. It's a shame for the Dark Side player I am but I will survive this and so do you. Here's my roster : https://swgoh.gg/u/guest/ .

It takes time or money to achieve 100% completion, it takes time to farm gear and chars but ALL THOSE THINGS ARE BINDS by one : PATIENCE. This game is about patience. Not for everyone of course because they can pay and reduce the time.

I honestly have paid around 300/500 euros in this game, for some of it I'm not proud of course, but for most of it I can truly say that I was paying because I wanted to. Not only to farm gear or shards, but also to send a positive message to developers who brought things I liked and still like in this game.

Now, you can say I'm wrong and I might be, as well as many of us who shares useless content, ideas, etc... but we are all part of a community and like everything else, this is a sort of family. Ideas are different, ways of doing and thinking are too but at the end we all rely on each other and need a push at some point to stay in the right way. This is mine.

So please, use some patience and be thankful to play this game because it also means you can while other who might like it can't.

    i agree, but i also disagree ;)
It definately wouldn't hurt the game if some things wouldn't take as long as they currently take. I'm totally fine with having to work for 100% completion and i'm realistic enough to know i'll never come anywhere near 100% completion and that's totally fine, i wouldn't want it any ohter way. However, some things just simply take too long imo.

I don't understand the part about not being proud for paying. It seems that you are ashamed of spending for your entertainment. Are you in any way proud spending money to go to the theater? Or to a carnival? Or a concert? Are the rewards for spending on those activities any more tangible, or any more valuable, than the rewards for spending in this game? I'd say not. You are simply entertained.

I'm certainly not advocating spending on this game. That's a personal choice that everybody must make themselves. But, I guess I don't understand the guilt some people have when they do spend.

I'm not going to miss a mortgage payment just so I can buy all the seats in the theater and have a private showing of the new Star Wars movie for my family and friends. While that would certainly be entertaining, it would be fiscally unwise. But I will most definitely spend $100 or whatever taking my wife to see it as soon as it opens, maybe twice if it's really good. And I won't feel the least bit guilty about it. Would you?
  • @AnnerDoon i think he is saying he is not proud of spending $ is because its gambling... sure gambling is entertainment. And alot of us have gone to the casino and droped way more $ than we should have and feel bad or irresponsible about our lack of self control.

In his defense though almost all of us are guilty of buying a gaming console or games or something akin to that and that also was for entertainment... and finally its not something to ashamed of but rather something we should not be consumed by.
  • Best post ever.
  • I thought the original poster meant they spent on things they aren't proud of. Like that last gear piece taking CUP to g11 kind of thing. Buying packs and getting rubbish.

I agree with the original poster but some things do take the biscuit when farming. Look at gear farming like this.

Say to get to gear 12 you need 66 pieces of gear per toon. Your talking 13,000 gear required to get them all up to g12. That's complete "full" pieces. You think how many of those are mk3 carbanti. You get 3-7 (read 3-5) from challenges. 15-35 3 times a week. A new meta every month. New characters adding to the game. People will get fed up eventually.

They need to add level 90. Add mk5 stun guns to new level 90 challenge and increase the bottom end of the carbanti drop. That way stun guns and carbanti would not longer be much of a problem. Just stun cuffs, the "unavailable outside of tank raid" gear and g12 hear would be the issue.
  • @Gazza1988 good idea, another idea is a daily challenge reward on sunday. For each day you complete all daily challenges you get 5 shards of carbanti/stuncuff/stungun so thats 35 of each if you do all daily challenges per week. Delivered via mailbox on sunday for completing daily challenges. Considering theres 52 weeks a year thats 1820 shards or like 36 whole pieces of each for the entire year. Considering you'll need over 200 carbantis alone just to g12 your whole roster. Its barely gonna make an impact. When take into account the other pieces that require one of these to make something else, and the amount needed just to get to g12.
  • I *wasted* a bunch of money getting Sabine to 5* so I could unlock Thrawn. I didn't want to wait, as she was the only one who wasn't at the right * level. In that respect, I'm a little ashamed I wasn't patient enough.

I've done the same before when I was one shard short of whatever toon I've been working on for so long (clone sargent springs to mind).

Aside from moments like that I never mind spending money on the game.

I do wish there were a lot better drop rates on gear, overall. Sometimes, I will do 3 fights and get 5 pieces of x low level gear(for a new toon) and then there's been times where I have done 10+ and gotten nothing.

    That is incredibly frustrating.

I wouldn't mind if there was a series of different tier gear packs for each of the types of gear that one could buy with crystals.

Other than that and a few other minor complaints(Sim bounty hunter battles pls), I 100% have no problems with this game. I don't mind that I didn't get Commander Luke, I will eventually. I didn't get Palpatine or Yoda at first either, but I have them both now.
  • We need more posts like this. Good job OP.
The whine fest the forums has become is really, really annoying.
  • I completely agree with this. I do have one thing to add though. As raids and gear are added, previous gear tiers should be looked at and gear crunch alleviated for some of those tiers. We all know the gear we are talking about. So yes patience is something we should have, however we should now be patient with earning our g11/12 gear, bot at a roadblock with g8/9 gear.
  • Agree for the most part but feel like the last poster that they need to set up new challenges to alleviate the roadblocks on gearing up lower levels once you rwach a certain level. For example mkIII holodiscs are painful to farm when you have so many toons to raise to g12
  • When I said I was ashamed of some spending I meant to things : the first one is about patience because I couldn't wait until the next day to buy a refresh or something equivalent.
The second one is about the quality of those spending : bronzium, shards, etc... when finally they were not worthy. And trully the second one is related to the lack of patience, since rushing make you do unrational choices.
At the end, it was gambling or even spending for something not worthy, knowing it wasn't but keeping the head burried in sand.

I do agree things could be improve, and they are thanks to some feedback but I will be honest : with all those complaints, whining and even insult sometime, I think Devs are watching it on Reddit more than this forum. That's okay to be mad, but wouldn't be better for everyone to, at least, not creating another post with the same complaint and going on someone post ?

Right, sorry, a single hard node farm for Hoth Rebel Soldier?

That's more then just simple patience, sorry.

I agree with everything in the post except for one point. If you single focus leveling the wrong toons you will fall behind in something. Not leveling a pilot will affect your ability to compete it space arena. Not leveling the right Evil team will cause you to fall behind in unlocking main content as well as mod challenges.

New players don't understand the nueances and reprocussions of their decisions which causes frustration and anger when the game gets hard and they can't compete positively. I was lucky and found the forums and read the advise and have since turned my game around where I competitive in Arena and Space battles and able to complete GW without issue.

Overall this is a fun addictive game with better dev response than Blizzard's "support" team! Please delete your What the F folder, client folder, and reload your OS. Also contact your internet provider because clearly it is not our fault but something you did, Blizzard is God.

Very refreshing post. I'm sure the devs busy their kittens on trying to keep up with all of the feedback.

  • I like the guild I'm in, it's a decent, semi-casual guild. But I somehow doubt we're going to be in any shape to get Raid Han or GK shards any time soon. So basically, you have to sometimes choose between friendlieness, and a guild that often has to be so hardcore and on point R Lee Ermy in FMJ couldn't even find anything wrong? That's the one thing that annoys me. Every other character is gainable in some ways, some harder than others, but those two require a lot of other very good people in one place.

    Hi,
I've not been writing in forum for a while, but when I saw this post I decide to share some thoughts.

To OP - sorry, but I am not agree.
Imagine you go to see tennis match and no one scores - just passing the ball over the net.
Will you enjoy it? What would you say - "We have to be patient. At the end after 12-16 hours some of them will exhaust and other will score ". That is how I feel when after farming a gear for a few weeks I see that I need to farm it again for next slot.

I want to share some more things:
    1. In the past I was in Arena top 50 everyday and I've got many allies from that time. Now my ally list looks like a graveyard - most of these players haven't been playing for a month and funny is that they are still about position 300.
    2. I am leader of small guild and now I try to increase players in it so I jump with my alt between guilds to offer them to join and I've seen a lot of dead guilds - guilds with about 10-15 members and last of them played about two weeks ago.
Do you think that this means that everything with this game is ok?

And at last - stop saying others to stop ranting :-) Rants means that someone cares about game. It is same like to watch you favorite sport team/player and rant against referee - you know that this will change nothing but it is just about passion. IMO if rants stopped - game will be dead

PS: Sorry for my English it is not my native.

EDIT: Just want to share with you that today is national holiday in my country - Unification day :-) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unification_Day_(Bulgaria)

  • Well said, this game is what you make It, if all you're going to do is complain then toodle pip.
It's nice to someone appreciate this game and the devs for once
    +1
  • @pargame I don't tell them not to complain, I tell them that it's unecessary. People will complain and I'm not here to make them stop. I just wanted to clarify which kind of game we play. I know what you mean about gear, I just got my DT, Vader and Veers to G11 and yet I've spend all crystals I saved for days. But this is the way this game work. Either you are competitive and get lucky, either you're not and then you simply are frustrated. But what is the cause of this frustration ? Rush. If you enter in this game with my kind of consideration, then you do it the way you want and still enjoy it.

Sorry, but I am not agree. It is not about being competitive, I am not, it is about having some progress in some period. That is what I meant in my tennis example above. Till gear 9 everyone can increase gear level of one toon in month (I wouldn't call that rush). For gear level 12 I will need few months. Just to gear up my arena team I will need about an year!!! During these few months, while I am gearing one toon to gear 12, nothing will happen. May be just will have some new toons at 3 stars which cannot farm. Even if you are chess master a month per move is too much. Sorry but this is not my definition for interesting game :-)

EDIT: there was a post in forum that because of TB a very powerful guild was destroyed. I am not exactly sure about numbers, but it was something like GP 80m and they get 5 ROLO shards. GP 80m !!! every member of this guild on average has more GP than me :-) And of course it will be destroyed - because some people doesn't want ROLO to be years project. I cannot understand this kind of game that expects to be patient and farm a toon with 5 shards per week.... :-)

You don't need those pieces only available in TB to get to G12. You need it after wards. Everyone will have a slow progression about this drop rate since it's only dependent on coins you get. Yes, high GP guild will gets more. What you have to do is not planing what will be the next meta. What you have to do is planing to play a squad you enjoy and which is good/fun to play.

I play DS. My lead is Thrawn (no zeta), Veers, Shore, Dt, St. This is not the rebels meta. This is not the top rank squad when only 2 of them are G11. This is a squad I enjoy playing with. That's all. Do they perform good in Raids ? No. That's still okey for me. Forget to follow the meta, follow what you like in this game. If nothing is the answer, you know what you have to do. Otherwise, focus on something that matters, not something that doesn't, since you don't care about being competitive.

By the way, you don't care about being competitive but you want all new toons, who seemed to be meta after Luke was online. What don't you deal with what you have and stop asking for something you don't ? :)

  • I have 52 toons at present who needs carbanti. Many need 2 for stun guns. That's 2600 pieces of gear. I get 3 or 4 from challenges (max 7). 15-20 a day(max 45), 45-60 a week (max 135).

To fill a single 1 full carbanti on each of those toons it would take me 57- 43 weeks (at max drop it would take 19 weeks) just from challenges.

Think of how many new toons are going to be introduced in that time all will need carbanti. It's not a sustainable model at present and is creating a bottleneck

There's a new movie out soon (in case you've been living under a rock) which will bring in more new toons.

Please, something needs to be done about it.

I wouldn't say that a bad idea. In fact, I would love to get more Carbantis. Even if your numbers are wrong :
7x5 = 35. 3 times a week = 105 maximum per week. Except the one you drop/gain from Heroic Pit.

Now, 52 x50 = 2600 so it means 24,761 week. Let's say actually 25 weeks, in a 52 weeks year. Yes, it's half of it.

This idea of gain 7 each week is great. But yes 25 weeks is also normal. Why ? This game is not about completing to 100%, it's about making choices on who to gear or not. There're two exceptions to this : you paid or you played since day 1.
  • Ah yes of course. My math is not the best when tired.

My point is around half of the current amount of available characters to me need carbanti at the gear level they are currently at. A few need 3 carbanti. That is a snapshot of my current situation.

I still have many toons at g1. Also many more toons will be coming who needs them. Even with my suggested challenge changes the other day, it would be impossible to gain 100% for a ftp player.

You still need the other gear that goes with the carbanti for stun guns. There's plenty of gear currently hiding behind a pay wall and/or raid/tb wall.

Now I realise you need carbanti for the mk5 thermal detonator. When will it end. You seriously cannot defend such pitiful drop rates for such an important piece of gear.

Edit: I have played since day 1. Nov 2015.
