New Trailer Episide 8 "The Last Jedi" [MERGE]

Replies

  • I don't know about anyone else, but I could have sworn I saw the Bendu's coral head in the section when Rey is talking about the balance. Or it could just be that I've seen season 3 of Rebels finale too many times. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • Rey and Finn both resistance. Resistance known for infiltrating enemy bases/behind enemy lines. Seems simple enough to me. Finn faces off against phasma, Rey faces off against marilyn manson
  • That was awesome cant wait!
  • After spending several decades by himself on a rock island, you would think Luke would be so in-tune with the Force that no level of power would scare him. I mean after ROTJ, he was basically the only "force-user" in the entire galaxy.
Maybe Rey upsets him so she runs off, only to return later as to finish her training with Luke, only to find him sickly and weak. She puts him in his tiny bed in his tiny home by a swamp and watches him sleep and fade away with the force, but only after he tells Rey she can't be a real Jedi until she faces Kylo.
And JJ Abrams laughs his way to the bank.

    Do you mean snoke? muhahaha
  • Here’s a guess. I payed more attention to the trailer and came up with this:
This trilogy will be similar to the storyline in KOTOR, that is, Rey being in line with bastilla Shan. She looks to be getting tortured/punished by snoke and he, similar to whatever darth it was that made bastilla go to the dark side, will cause Rey to fall. Then Finn will sway her back somehow, just like you could do in KOTOR, and then there will be the big battle at the end of EP9.
If anyone else posted this here before me, all credit to you.
  • I really hope its not a carbon copy. None of these new characters were interesting in TFA, if they cannot take a risk plot wise then its just a waste of time.

That trailer was either spoilery or intentionally misleading, and I don’t like either approach.
    +1.

I thought Finn did a good job, Rey was meh, and Kylo sold the inner turmoil. I thought TFA was a very good starting point to the new trilogy, and I wasn't serious in comparing this trilogy to the original one. After watching movies for decades, you rarely see an original plot anymore. Most of us saw the first trilogy and that was our first time seeing that story line. Doesn't make it less special if part of it is recycled again. Just means we've watched way too many movies.
  • All I ask is they don't lift the storyline from Empire Strikes Back
  • If she turns to the dark side best Star Wars movie ever

That would literally just make it like the 4th thru 6th.... if Rey turns to dark side in this movie then Star Wars will be literally repeating the 4th thru 6th movies just with a girl
  • He trailer is meant for us to think she will be bad but in turn if you notice he has the same kind of compassion Dartb Vader had towards Luke that Kylo had towards his mother... Rey will either turn him good or destroy Kylo Ren... Darth Maul or Quinlon vos is supreme leader snoke
  • All I ask is they don't lift the storyline from Empire Strikes Back

Well, at least they already have modified AT-ATs
  • Hey guys, Luke told you himself- "this is not going to go the way you think."

That line is the final nail in the coffin of "this trailer reveals nothing about the plot." Nobody should be upset about spoilers.

I'm just glad we didn't get a fourth Death Star in this trailer. I liked the trailer mostly. It makes it seem like we're going to get more of a character story and less of a kill-the-giant-space-laser story.

I think Disney is smart enough to know that they have to take some risks in this film; it can't be Empire all over again and it can't just be a mirror of Anakin's story. They can get away with doing a soft reboot for the first of the new trilogy but not twice in a row. I have faith in Disney because:
    A. They paid $4 billion for this property and have a vested interest in not ****ing it up
    B. They're not going to make the same mistakes Lucas did when making the prequels
    I'm concerned about Disney because:
    A. They may play it too safe. Instead of going for something unique, with heart and soul and character and a unique story, this could end up being the product of committee think. (There are pros and cons to film by committee design)
    B. Maybe they will make the same mistakes Lucas did in the prequels. Whose idea was it to put cute cuddly furbies in Star Wars? Why does Chewie look like he's CG?

I dunno, overall I'm excited but I've been burned by star wars before so it's cautious excitement. I'll never forget the feelings of disappointment I had coming out of Episodes 2 and 3.

  • IMAX display has Luke on both sides. He is on the left with the Resistance without his robe's hood up and he is on the right side with the First Order with his dark robe on and hood up. Not picture of Snoke though.

Why wasn't Cobb Vanth shards a reward for the Krayt Dragon raid? Why wasn't Endor Gear Luke shards a reward for the Speeder Bike raid?

True lol. All we need is Hermit Luke to show Rey the ways of the force ... except in this case Hermit Luke is less like Hermit Yoda and more like Jolee Bindo - full of scorn and regret and jaded as hell.

  • Is this the movie where Luke dies?

The trailer is edited to be very misleading. Especially the end scene

No doubt - exactly what I was thinking too.

It is possible, looking at the trailer, that Kylo does turn good.

Looks like Kylo has the opportunity to destroy the capital ship with his mother on board - comes to the realisation that he cannot do to Leia what he did to Han and rejects Snoke's teachings. Destroys his helmet and his identity as Kylo Ren and returns to being Ben Solo.

Perhaps Luke is defeated. Rey turns to the redeemed Kylo for guidance and team up to defeat the first order and snoke.

or - perhaps it was all just edited this way and everything is still a mystery.

What is Luke referring to? - seen this kind of power before, didn't scare him then, but does now - is this Vader's power reflected in Rey? I hope this doesn't mean that she is the second prophecy after all - if this is the case, then Disney is doing a terrible job at staying away from the issues that made the PT terrible.

There are no spoilers but just some very well edited scenes.

What are the spoilers? There are suggestions, not spoilers. The only spoilers I see are that Luke, Kylo, Finn, Snoke, Poe, and Rey will say some words, they'll be some fights. Rey will start training, and that there are flashbacks. Rey talking to Kylo isn't a spoiler she'll turn to the dark side. I suggest you look up the definition of a spoiler.

Ok, I assume trailer is not telling us the whole plot. So:
    1. Kylo would not kill Leia.
    2. Kylo will not try to convert Rey
    3. Modified AT-Ats looks like If modern tanks were covered with spikes (for better hit box I think), I.e. rather silly.
    4. Ok, they haven’t show Darth Jar Jar, so he will definitely be there

Its misleading but if it follows ESB completely I am done with this third trilogy. Id take **** Jar Jar over essentially remakes.

Don't get your hopes up. They've already recreated the battle of Hoth. (shot for shot like ESB, but different landscape/speeders)
#CloneHelmets4Life...VICTORY!!!! "I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere." The more you tighten your grip, CG/EA, the more whales will slip through your fingers (and go F2P or quit).
  • It didn't scare me enough then, it does now

I think Luke knows the amount of carbanties and stun cuffs the new Last Jedi character will need.

Most plausible. But this happens in episode 9. Rey has to run away from Luke’s training after a vision to rescue her friends from a LothWolf den in the clouds. All of this takes place after the sand battle on planet Choth. Rey will also be knocked off her giant seahorse while checking out a crashed meteor by a giant sea wampa which looks remarkedly like the dragon from GOT. Meanwhile Finn will be released from his carbonite med pod by Chewie and Poe, disguised as Twilek slave dancers in a space casino. The movie ends on board the Mon Cal cruiser Raddic, which looks amazingly like Home One withall the Heroes hugging and Luke finally having that 35 year old hole in his mechanical hand repaired from Jabba’s sail barge.
