Yes many players have made some great attempts to collect this data and have what seem to be validated answers, but that doesn't sound like what you are looking for.
They'll never tell you. The entire business model of this game is based around an unknown (and perhaps fluctuating) drop rate.
A lot of people have tracked data over the years. Try to find some of their posts, probably on Reddit. I can tell you character shard drop-rates are around 33%, and lower gear drops higher than purple gear.
