  Get him tough enough to beat the challenges, but you wont be hitting top 5 in fleet with Ackbar. Put your resoures toward getting the Chimera and use Tarkin until then.
  
  I’m probably the only Mace user in my shard that can stay top 5, and it’s a struggle. If you aren’t Tarkin or Thrawn you will get targeted.
  
  I’m trying to move over to Thrawn now, just a little more gear and abilities.

  I'm in the same boat. Got nearly all dark side ships done but just need to finish rebel ships to get chimaera. More or less I'm just trying to get as many ships 7 starred so I have a better selection and can eventually focus on zeta farming.

  If you want fun then focus on ackbar or mace because currently Thrawn and Tarkin own the meta.
  For ackbar you want more rebel ships so your focus should be consisting of wedge and Biggs, phantom, ghost and for instant TL advanced tie. You should have ships like consular, umbaran, Ashoka and scimitar in tow. Those are the easiest to farm in terms of availability in shops and shards. The focus is to keep taunt on Biggs and recover his protection with additional attacks and TL. Ackbar is nice but you won’t be able to hold 200 depending on your shard without serious work.
  Make clearing the zeta challenge a priority and hold over 200 daily for fleet currency until you get Tarkin or chimera up to snuff
