Ah, now we're getting into the philosophical. CG could make it so you don't have to log in at certain times, but again, probably won't (so they can show the bean counters how much people play their game, just like increasing the overall number of crystals given to the playerbase would decrease their profits).
Let's be honest. As terrible as playing SWGoH and driving is, you CAN NOT even hope to be competitive and F2P without arena, which CG/EA knows.
#CloneHelmets4Life...VICTORY!!!! "I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere." The more you tighten your grip, CG/EA, the more whales will slip through your fingers (and go F2P or quit).

    Define "competitive."

All crystals do is save you time. You can ignore both arenas completely and still build a large and diverse roster which can do great in raids and TB/TW. It will just take longer.
    I need a new message here. https://discord.gg/AmStGTH
  • So Shard Whale hasn’t moved timezones but has now moved Payout into an hour which they know because of our shard chat is uncontested. This move has been purely attributed to work/life schedule.

    Money Talks.

I sincerely hope all players will be treated in exactly the same way????
  • I have a simple solution. It would take time to code but would be a big QOL improvement, based on the comments here. Allow people to choose their payout timing, charge 2000 crystals, and make it available once a day.
  • Everyone should be given the opportunity to do it once. I’m part of a shard chat. I sit in an hour that is pretty much uncontested. People in the preceding PO have to contend with the busiest hour in our shard. It’s simply not fair that I get an easy ride because of this and they don’t. One change each at least makes it a level playing field. Ofc it isn’t perfect but everyone gets the same opportunity. Only allowing certain players to do it especially in clear contradiction of the criteria they set out is even more unfair.

Can we at least give it a month before folks just blatantly abuse this?
    Still not a he.
  • for me the clock moves forward, or back an hour and the game stays at the same time, and at the moment it is a huge pain because my payouts and free energy is at the time I pick up my son from school, so most days I miss out on the energy because of one hour difference.

I don't want to abuse the game in any way, but it is annoying that when the clock changes, the game stays the same and does not move with the clock changes. It is only an hour, but makes all the difference.

If you are a player who has moved or who set up their account while on vacation abroad, or is four or more timezones away from your current time set for any reason, please contact our support team at https://help.ea.com to request your one-time timezone change to your current timezone.
So here is written any player can request timezone change if he or she meets any of the requirements:
    • Moving from one place of leaving to another
    • Set up account on vacation. Exactly my case
    • whatever reason is, but the difference is now 4 or more
I've posted the request, but it gets declined as the difference is less then 4 timezones. But it is not written in original post that the vacation place should also have difference 4 or more timezones. I assume my case when I set up my account on vacation abroad after my friend showed me the game. But I don't understand why support team continue speaking about 4 hours difference.

Can someone from CG comment on this please?

Please, it was abused on the first day it was introduced. Just that snitches get stitches so it wasn't reported.
  • I moved to Singapore from USA(Idaho) and I need my timezone to be changed because its more than a 12 hour difference and I struggle to collect energy often

...we do want to slowly begin to roll out a program by which we allow a one time only timezone change for anybody who has moved in excess of four time zones (so from US to Europe or Asia, for example)...

They do state that it is limited to people who have moved in excess of 4 hours.

Do we know what information we need to provide as verification, is it your phone's GPS location?

I just hope CG allows exceptions to the one time move for military members who are transferred to overseas duty stations and rotate between zones regularly. Even though I was stationed in Germany for years, I went TDY regularly and Blizzard was very happy to assist me. EA did the same with TOR and Galaxies.
We are working in steps here, and it's a little bumpy on the first one, but that most certainly will be the next one. Thank you for your service.

Thanks @CG_Carrie the struggle is real for us military folks I’ve moved three times in the last four years....

The point of changing timezones is not to make payouts more convenient. Changing your payout time is SO easily exploitable.
As Carrie said, this is for extreme circumstances, such as I move from the US to Europe/Asia, and now my bonus energy and arena payouts are in the middle of the night.
It would be incredibly nice if arena payouts weren't smack dab in the middle of most people's busiest time of the day. However, they would have to rework the entire payout system, which I don't believe they're going to do (they don't want everyone to be able to take 1st every day).

I didn't move but for the past 5 months I've been working a 6PM to 6 AM schedule so, for me, my free energy IS in the middle of the night for the most part and my arena payout happens as soon as I get to work. My commute leaves me with no chance of climbing the leaderboard as much as I can. My arena ranking, which I'm able to take to around 350-400 during the night, generally falls to anywhere between 900-1100. The only payout I have a chance at maximizing is ships. Its incredibly frustrating.

Yeah, I didn't start until, like, six months until my contract ended, and I still lost three months of progress along the way!

I have had a similar issue. I created my account while on holiday. I went to EA help but I have been told it isn't possible for them to do it at the moment. They don't have the tools...

This is as far as it gets.

I emailed support inline with the new forum entry having moved to the other side of the world (8 timezone change) and they didn't even read my message, just replied to one I sent months ago regarding another fault which has since been fixed and said look at the forums, my message even included a link to the forums quoting the new policy from the developers email

I finally got through to be told that it has to be a minimum of 4 hours. Although in this post it says.

If you are a player who has moved or who set up their account while on vacation abroad, (OR) is four or more timezones away from your current time set for any reason, please contact our support team at https://help.ea.com to request your one-time timezone change to your current timezone.

I hope we get a word from CG soon. It feels like a kick in the teeth, this has been an issue for me since I started and nearly made me quit several times.

I started playing in Thailand and now live in the states.

I went through the EA help chat. First time got passed on no problem and just when I was going to give them my ally code the chat got cut for some reason. Maybe because I went into the game to check and I was running both on my phone.

Second try, got told that I didnt know what I was talking about and cut off just like that.

Tried a 3rd time and was told it was a rumor. But, I had save the dev post link, and I pasted it in their chat begging them read it which then got me put on hold while they waited for a "specialist"

Finally got approved and my zone change took effect today, almost 48 hours later I believe.

Unfortunately there is nothing for them to comment on. Selectively quoting the post doesn't mean that we can ignore the rest of the post that clearly states it needs to be in excess of 4 hours.
While frequent timezone changes have the potential to create abuse around shard payouts, we do want to slowly begin to roll out a program by which we allow a one time only timezone change for anybody who has moved in excess of four time zones (so from US to Europe or Asia, for example).

Define large and diverse. How many G11/12, fully modded/omega'd/zeta'd teams?
And in a static game, taking longer would be valid. With but the carrot being moved constantly...

    Hello,
I work at night and I can never recover the energy of cantina because it falls at lunch time and I sleep.
This has been going on for two years.
Thank you for making an effort for those who do not change timezone but who work in staggered hours.
the direction the game takes is becoming painful.
  • So, because people can’t log in by paying attention to a clock. My whole game is off by 12 hours now? What is up with that!
  • I work 7pm to 7am night shift. I miss the noon energy every day. This is not one of the reasons stated for a timezone change. Honestly this could be fixed easily for me without changing my arena payout. Just increase the time limit on getting the noon energy. Set it to stay active for 5 hours instead of 2. It seems like an easy change that would solve the problems for many people. @CG_Carrie
  • The only problem I currently have is when Daylight Savings Time came around, my payout, reset, everything changed. Instead of the clock in-game going back with my timezone, it stayed the same and is now one hour ahead. Reset for our time zone EST now 1am instead of midnight. Our store resets (including energy resets) are now at 7am, 1pm, 7pm, 10pm. Is there anyway you guys can fix this for those of us in the Eastern Timezone? It is getting really annoying having reset at 1am when it does make a huge different from midnight since I do need sleep, and have busy days.

I like the DST resets at 1am etc much better than midnight reset. Since I only finish WK about 12:15am it allows me to finish bits needed b4 reset after WK, which I can't do when it's 12. Also means I can usually snatch the energy just before 3pm before I properly wake, which I've given up setting the alarm for 12-2. But I'd love a 2am payout. Energy at 8pm, 2am, 4am. 3am fleet arena. Would be perfect for me!
  • Arena is about to get crazy with the new chat features. If you think collusion is bad now, wait until you can do it in-game chat. Right now you have to hunt people down on third party websites then reaching out to them or their guildmates through line or discord to get then in the shard chat. Now everyone will have access to everyone else in game. Timezone changes abuse is going to be small potatoes compared to what’s about to happen.
  • Just out of curiosity, are you moving the people who "beta tested" this back to their normal timezone? Have someone living in Cali on an Atlantic payout (1 hour before EST). Pretty sure the "test" is over and they can be moved back to their PST payout. :/
