Max speed

I was under the impression thrawns ship max speed was 153. I was also under the impression pilots mod stats didnt affect ships. However there is one person on my shard in top 10 with 154 speed.

Could he have G12+ gear on thrawn, giving him the needed GP to get that extra speed point
