Has George Lucas ever said where he got the inspiration for Palpatine's rise to power? Because I'm watching "World War II in Color", and the similarities between the way Palpatine rose to power and Hilter's rise to power are numerous. In fact, it is almost exactly the same.

Thanks for the link.
That was an interesting read. But it still seems to me that Palpatine's rise to power has more to do with H!tler than Nixon. If you have Netflix, go watch the first episode of "World War II in Colour" where they tell of how H!tler rose to political power during economic hardship (trade dispute/blockade of Naboo anyone?), was granted special powers after a crises he that he never gave up, disbanded all other political parties besides the N@tzis (abolished the senate), and built a secret army (clones!).
There's more, but this post is big enough already. Go research some history if you want more!
I will have to find me a documentary.
