There's been an update to the original post. I skimmed it hoping for somethingnsayong that due to the uproar weve backed down. Instead I noticed a nice line staring that ships will be available even if the pilot isn't. Well at least there's that... you missed the point. Scrap this awful idea!
The best part about this is the complete radio silence from the mods/devs on this forum...
To give credit where its due, Kyno has been responding and helpful in the ships thread. Granted, he confirmed the devs told the mods previously that "banned pilot = banned ship" which is just batkitten crazy, but he has been trying to give information. Can't fault him, although your point about radio silence from the devs is on point.
CG, in general this game has been one of the best app games I've ever played; however, with that being said, this is by FAR the worst idea you have had thus far. DO NOT BAN/DISALLOW me to use any one character; its much better to give bonuses (dont make them as much as you did with Windu for ex tone it it down).
/reconsider negating peoples choices...never a good thing and its the easy way out. Instead you should let the communitty submit (and actually read them) ideas on how to "shake up TW"; I have some interesting ideas as does many other folks. Make it a contest where if your idea gets selected you get a cool icon or some chakski.
I fail to see how the bonuses and this approach have any correlation.
Either way, I am not a fan of this concept, and feel like it robs all guilds of the work they have done. When most of us build a character we consider what impact they will have in TW. Now that seems like a worthless consideration. I know I have personally built some teams just for this feature, and many of my guild mates have as well. What's more, isn't there a high probability that some guilds will be more hamstringed than others with these removals?
Although there are certainly game-wide favorites no one team is universal. Perhaps a better route, if you feel the need to insert handicaps into the mix; would be to let the two warring factions determine what characters are not usable in the event. That way the bans are more reflective of the local parties involved.
Theory crafting is all well and good but....I am rather pessimistic about this.....character nerf to the TW. I think it is an ill-conceived proposal to the game. I wasn't super fond of the superhero bonuses that we had gotten in November and December, but they were fun in their own right for a short while (however, for me, the new shiny died after a couple of TWs). Now we seem to be going in the opposite direction.
I know I'm in an echo chamber, but I'll state it anyway: many people have worked hard to get certain characters and teams up and TW-viable. As have I. Now it seems that in (at least the upcoming) TW some, if not all, of their teams or worked-on characters are going to be dispelled from play. Which *could* result in some people no longer having enough qualifying toons (much less teams) to even participate in the TW.
The theory crafting for new team compositions is all well and good, but it could have been brought about in a different manner. The 3v3 in the GA*, for example, still had viable teams, but you had to think about how to deal with both attack and defense. At least you kept your roster. But arbitrary removal of sets of toons - and done by committee, no less! - is not the best option, IMO.
* - on that note, _why_ is there only one GA in January? That was one of the most fun and challenging introductions to the game I have experienced since I started playing!
Thanks for all the feedback, this is something we intended to be a fun change of pace for TW and we will review all of your responses. Capital Games is on holiday until January 7th, but we will catch up and review the feedback on TW/GA plus talk about the Road Ahead in the following weeks.

Thank you! What upset me as much as the changes that are just no, is the fact they sprung this on us wholesale with no input or asking of ideas. I'm all for new features or trying something new. But that's what the GA was/is. Let that settle in a bit first and leave the TW alone for a while.
For what it's worth, I do enjoy the TW much more, but I liked the 3v3 GA the best. It was not like other parts of the game and forced creativity without the team synergies. The other parts of the game were fine, don't mess them up.
The best part about the game is the collaboration. As the other guild leaders/officers in my alliance are discussing now, it is because of the people in our guilds that many of us old-timers have stuck around and remained so involved for so long, including supporting the game financially. For whatever it's worth to CG (likely next to nothing), we are now talking about all switching to another game that does not pull this kind of nonsense.
No was hoping you had something that wasn’t MSF lol. Let me know though!
@Vinny_Vader_Vedi
You should check out age of magic. It’s very similar to swgoh and msf, but I never got into it seriously so I don’t know if they pull the same shenanigans.

One of the chats I’m in ppl left here to play that. I totally forgot about it!

I hope when you do your review, you don't take the opposite message again
I certainly don't begrudge anyone for getting time off during the holidays, heck I've been off since the 21st and go back on the 7th myself. However I had projects and responsibilities that were due the week I returned... So I did them all before I left work back in December. I don't understand how you dont have the road ahead or January calendar completed yet regardless of what time of year it is. You knew everything was going to be shut down for two weeks and no one thought it would be a good idea to have it done and ready to go before they left for break?
With the positive feedback we heard from the community following the limited-time character bonuses we added to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Clone Wars, as well as the recent addition of the Grand Arena events, we’re going to continue to shake things up in Territory Wars as we move into the future.
When Territory Wars was introduced, it was the first opportunity players had to test their full rosters against other players. Now that the Grand Arena events are running, we believe this will be a much better fit for challenging players who have a similar collection. This will be the arena for purely competitive play.
That frees us up to take Territory Wars in a more playful and fun direction. It also gives us as developers a ton more options to keep this mode fresh and interesting. We are planning to roll out many new types of Territory Wars in the future, but for the next Territory War, we’re giving the community the ability to shape what it looks like!
Here’s how it will work:
The community will vote to keep 6 out of 10 groups of 4 characters that you want to see available during for next Territory War. Any groups NOT chosen will be unavailable for this Territory Wars
While the community votes, the Dev team will hold their own poll and pick 1 out of 4 groups of characters to keep as well (For this Territory War, we’re publishing the groups that we’ll choose from ahead of time. See our potential picks in the Dev Poll Options below)
Finally, we will post the Community’s top picks and our picks prior to the start of the event to give you time to strategize
Other Rules:
Any unlisted character (i.e., not in any group) will automatically be available for use
The poll will be open until Jan 7th
Results of both the Community and internal Dev poll will be posted on Jan 9th
Ships will be available even if their pilot is banned
We’d love to hear your feedback and ideas around Territory Wars - Community Style but also don’t forget to vote for January below!
THIS POLL IS FOR THE NEXT Territory Wars (1/13/2018). Click below and get picking!
Congrats on COMPLETLY IGNORING your players. How in the heck is REMOVING the same thing as adding? You must be a socialist, clearly math is not your strongpoint. Subtraction does not equal addition. Givevus fun additions, do not punish us by taking away characters weve invested in. Not smart CG, in fact quite the opposite.
The only thing the community can do to stop things like this going forward is to contact EA directly. That would be the only way to get through to the CG team. Got to have their bosses sit them down and have a heart to heart with them.
Wow, there are a lot of complainers here. How about giving it a shot first? Everyone seemed to like the toon bonuses in Nov. EA didn't consult with the player base on that. They threw it out there, we played it and it was good. Maybe the mistake here by EA was actually soliciting feedback.
TW has gotten a bit stale. We're seeing a lot of the same teams and tactics being used. This will force guilds to come up with new strategies and team combinations on the fly. It promotes experimentation That sounds like fun to me.
Some ideas are so bad you don't even need to try them first to realize it. This is one of them.

That's not how you get EA's attention. They speak only 1 language and it both starts and ends with $.
A better idea would have been to require x amount of a faction per guild on D (require ten Jawas on D) and have specific faction exclusions on each territory on O (Like one Territory you can’t use OR). Both would be a surprise during that phase. You could have it so it is only one Flex Territory per side so that everything else can be normal but the War itself would be interesting.
This idea increases challenge, but does put a chilling effect on the fun.
Or give each side the ability to exclude a few specific toons on O of different factions. Stuff like that can increase the tension but still have a measure of fun.
So, this is coming from someone who really doesn't like TW.
Congratulations, you have suceeeded in making something I hate even more terrible!
As if having to check in to see progress every few hours isn't bad enough.
Now you really want us to waste a bunch of time trying to work out what %^$#^ teams can be made from the scraps that are left from your random butchery.
Well to put it bluntly. Not a hope in hell.
We will just lay a bunch of random toons in, contact the guild we are matched with, and do the bare minimum to get the worthless rewards.
wowza, 38 pages in less then 24hours, reminds me of the Sith Raid feedback thread! and who here remembers that? 6months later "so btw we finally decided to listen to feedback we got 6months ago". I sincerely hope its different this time and they actually do change and listen to feedback swiftly.
Honestly we waited an entire month for TW to return, and when it does they gimp it because they want us to focus more on the new toy GA, which is a copy of an old toy. Make us hate TW so GA is better by comparison.
The point is that people with big rosters will still be able to end up with some usable teams even if those teams will be nerfed because 1 or more key members will be unavailable. For exemple if I can't use my zPalp I may use a Zaul instead. Of course it's less effective but still usable at some point.
But for the relatively newer players with a small roster who only have a handful of useable toons, that means the tw will simply and purely be unplayable at all.
What a fun...

The takeaway from this is to always focus on the negative and opportunities and never ever tell them where they are doing a good job.
