Just an idea - sort them by days played.
Would be good to balance them out - the people who stopped playing and returned would get matched with people with similar play time. It would also make shards more competitive, erasing the people who hit lvl 20 and stopped playing, grouping them into an 'afk' shard. This system could refresh every month with season rewards, which would also stop easy discord servers allowing people easy 1st. Definitely controversial, but I feel it would freshen things up.

There are things you cant just stop for a year, come back and act like nothing happened. Especially with competitive things, which swgoh is all about.
Improving rewards for higher leagues without making it impossible for people to catch up would be a challenge though.... Maybe extra mod materials or random character shards rather than crystals or gear? (Crystals or Gear would make the gulf vast)
And if otherwise active players go offline for a couple of weeks they would end up in a completely different shard? That's going to be a mess.
it would feel more competitive, with better use of time being rewarded. It would also allow mid-tier players to have a chance of winning. Or maybe do some GA based on time played rather than GP.
That is the most nonse response ever posted. Do you think it is wise for the people who want to make money to literaly make coming back an impossibility ? customer retention and all of that..
Yes the shards need to be shuffled based on GP on a 6month basis or so, the argument such things is pretty invalid.
