Yeah, but remember Disney just closed the deal to buy Fox and get back X-Men, FF, Deadpool and other Marvel characters...
I was wondering if this move of restarting Lucasfilm Game could mean that in a near future they could also pull the plug on EA's Star Wars GoH and Battlefront 2.

Yup. That’s EXACTLY why EA set out a 5 year plan for SWGOH
I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be "Lucasfilm Games" in name only.
meaning?
It's still going to be everything EA that we and everyone in the gaming community have come to know and love.... Nothing like the late, great Lucasfilms games of the 90s and 2000's
I'm more wondering if Disney is going to remaster and re-release KOTOR I and II. Could explain the "legal issues" blocking the mobile port of KOTOR II.
I don't think SWGOH will die though. It might change management, but the game will keep going. It's too successful (makes too much money) for Disney to just pull its plug.

This. As long as the duck keeps laying golden eggs, Disney will do their best to keep it alive.
And even if they do pull the plug, it's still some years ahead and this game has had an amazing lifespan already.

In light of those quotes perhaps EA is looking to break off its relationship with Disney when it comes to Star Wars… but the feeling could be mutual. A report from Cinelinx cites sources who say that Disney and EA met to try and figure out why Star Wars games were being received so poorly, while also reaching out to Activision and Ubisoft about whether they would want to take over the Star Wars licence. If that sounds a bit abrupt to you, apparently it has legal precedent as Cinelinx wrote that “supposedly there's an addendum of some kind within the contract that would allow Disney to pull the license, or shop it around, if certain standards/conditions weren't being met”.
I think GoH could stay with EA if it's making them money, but it seems Disney can pull the plug anytime when it comes to the Battlefront/Jedi Fallen Orden franchise.
I don't think it will have any real impact on this game. From another article about it: "don't get your hopes up about a wave of new games appearing. Job listings posted on the Disney Careers website suggests that it will support games using Lucasfilm IPs, including Star Wars, rather than developing them itself." If anything, the license may become non-exclusive but whether you like EA or not, they are the major player in video games and Disney isn't going to try to cut them out altogether.
What Star Wars games are being received poorly? Aren't almost all of them being cancelled before they are ever released?
Battlefront 2,due the loot boxes controversy.
I haven't played it; was the game itself received poorly, or just the loot boxes?
a bit of both. I play BF2 since day one, and if you go to the forums you can see the amount of players complaining about the bugs and several balance issues. That game is like this...They fix one thing and breaks three more with every update.

Or they'll go for nostalgia porn which is not better either. That's a final nail on the coffin. Homage revenue.

Both, P2W isn't a good look for mainstream games that receive a lot of media attention but the game was also poorly received besides people loving how much the sounds and visuals had a true Star Wars feel to it.
I actually enjoyed the campaign since I am not a multiplayer shooter player for the most part, but the game was very true to it's EA core in it being prioritized to be monetized and churn out ways to make extra money in addition to the base $60, if you bought the "cheap" edition.
Being monetized wasn't just the loot boxes though, it was the game design in that you had to play a lot to even be competitive because the base stats for players got better the more you played (could be expedited through loot boxes) so if you didn't join the game from day 1 you were just simply at a glaringly obvious literal disadvantage.
uhhhh this is not good for the future of this game.... is it.
If this game is a casualty for a good Star Wars game finally, I think many will rejoice
I don't think Disney's game development strategy will any be more wallet-friendly than EA's. The days were you paid once for a franchised offline game with months worth of content and high replayability are over. This is the forced-online age where the customer is milked in every which way possible, from microtransactions and online subscriptions in already-bought games to harvesting and selling user data to marketing entities. Besides, their vision for the future direction of SW games may prove as unpopular as recent cinematic ventures.
As for SWGOH, I'm sure Disney has the good business sense to keep it going for as long as it remains profitable. The same goes for SWTOR. I could imagine they'll extend the license on a per-game basis, or take over development, or even buy companies like CG from EA.
Disney has responded to media outlets inquiring about this "story" and it's much ado about nothing. Here's the update on one blog: "Disney has reached out to the media to explain that this isn't a "revival" and it's definitely not anything like LucasArts. The team at Lucasfilm that oversees games relating to its IP (including Star Wars Battlefront II) has been working under that name for years. As it explained to GamesIndustry.biz, Lucasfilm plans to continue its strategy of licensing IP to others."
So this "news" is absolutely nothing....just hiring for the same group of people that have been the liasons between Lucasfilm and the third-party game development teams for years. Impact on Galaxy of Heroes = zero, none, nada, zip, zilch.

Meaning the name will be the only thing it has in common with the original, and they'll keep churning out loot-box-oriented crap.

I highly doubt it.
You dont kill once source of income because you have a second. I would think this is more just diversifying the portfolio.
Thanks for your time Kyno, much appreciated. I hope you are right as I love GoH and I'd hate to see it shut it down for whatever reason.
