how to calculate the damage?

the physical damage shows in the character stats page seems not so reliable.
as some characters with higher physical damage will have lower output than the one with lower damage. the resistance pilot is a good example (his damage stat is quite low and he hits hard!!

I noticed this too. I have not found anything that tells you how much damage someone will do. Someone has physical damage 800 and hits for 600 someone else has physical damage 1000 and hits for 1500 on basic attacks. Both with 0 armor pen.

Not anymore he doesn't, they nerfed him along with Bariss.
Special damage is reduced by resistance, physical damage is reduced by armour so it really all depends on the target you're going after, how effective any particular strike will be.

The attacks themselves also have a base damage star that we cannot see

i am talking about attacking to the same target. and i already states that i am talking about physical attack not special attack or special damage which is shows in blue color (critical hits all shows in yellow)
you try to test it yourself and you will know what i am talking about

Right, they nerfed resistance pilot along with Bariss, he was hitting more than intended.
