Other Games Like SWGOH

What kind of other books/movies do you want them to make a game like SWGOH on. I personally would say Eragon, Percy Jackson and Harry Potter. What do you guys think.

  • I don't know if anything could be epic enough to capture my attention longer that a few weeks, especially with knowing how a game like this works now.

I suppose Marvel/DC would be obvious franchises, but Dungeons & Dragons would certainly fit the bill. Pit = Dragon/TW = Kingdom War/GA = Joust Tourney/etc. Then Pathfinder would come along and be the better version.

If A Song of Ice and Fire (forget Game of Thrones) was made this way, it would be a bunch of delegates swapping rhetoric and the buffs/debuffs would be insane, then a character would be bored to death and you'd have to retrain him from the ground up AGAIN.

Personally, I'd want Bakshi's Wizards! (BLAP You killed Fritz BLAP You killed Fritz)

I think D&D would be interesting.

Enough background to be a full environment, but enough flexibility that there is no real "wrong move" as far as character development. I guess that could be a double edge sword too, as there is no "big deal" for everyone to be waiting for.

    I'd love a D&D mobile game
  • The trouble with games today is all they see is the bottom line. When I was younger they put time and effort into the storyline etc.. Now, pew pew pew, pay for more energy or come back in a few weeks.

D&D, all you need is imagination, few pieces of paper, and some dice. Bingo! And it's very mobile.

I agree for the most part. Playing through KotOR 1 and 2, I learned that even old games were riddled with flaws. The advent of the internet, specifically being able to download patches and updates, with being monetized, have been the Achilles heel in modern gaming. We have to shoulder the blame because it is our demand for new and shiny that forces games to be released on tight deadlines, with little to no captivating content. Take COD for example, or AC. They started pumping games out. Those games were awful. Gotta hand it to Ubisoft, who took a year off and looked at what they were doing after Unity failed miserably. The next game, Syndicate, was awesome. Followed by Origins and Odyssey.

Have you looked at Star Wars - The Old Republic? It's no sandbox RPG like SWG, but it's a nice way to kill some time in between SWGOH sessions. Doesn't even require a subscription.

What game does DC have? Injustice is a 1v1 game which to me is not like GOH.

I tried Marvels game, didn't care for it. Honestly, if it wasn't star wars, I would've quit a loooooonnng time ago, in this galaxy not so far away.

I'm still playing the Marvel Strike Force and DC Legends one. I'm enjoying them both. Its a learning curve, not sure what chars go with what chars and all that but its fun collecting heroes/villains.

I play swtor on and off it's a truly great game, incredibly immersive. Also by far the best story-experience in any mmo.

Frodo: Ability 1: Somebody take this ring!
Everyone Else: Ability 1: Give me the ring!

In all seriousness, LOTR needs more for mobile games. It’s becoming (or always was) prominent in the board game community, but I want more mobile!
