Got 7* Padme with NO Zeta Investment
Grievous G12 FULLY geared, 56K health, 50% CC, 250 speed. All 6E health mods, health primaries, offense cross (my health crosses are slow) and CD triangle.
B2, Droideka, Magna all G12.0, no zetas, B mods. I quickly realised that B1 does way more harm than good, don’t use him at all!
I put Asajj in there as the 5th, she’s actually zeta’d but it didn’t matter, she got killed before she took a turn. If I’d needed a second try (I didn’t) I would have used Sun Fac.
So basically GG can virtually solo this, just use the other characters to give him the opportunity. Kill order is Padme, Fishlee, JKA, Mace and GK. It came down to GG solo vs Mace and GK, they couldn’t kill him.
First try with the team above, gear and mods on GG are key, but you can save your zetas for Padme (if she deserves them - remains to be seen).

Could you do it without one of Droideka or Magnaguard or are they both pretty much vital?

Not trying to impress you, I’m letting other people in my situation know that they don’t need to blow zetas on droids to 7* Padme.
Just because you’re FTP, it doesn’t make you right, or superior, and you don’t get a special badge.
I'll wait till the other separatists get reworked. I have padme at 6* but can't be bothered wasting zeta on GG
Far from a waste. He’s great droid leader and pays off in GA and TW big time.

I have read a few comments like this. With a new TB coming, that will be harder than the previous version, that has a mini raid type event in it, what makes you think those zetas arent worth the investment? You get Padme and a droid separatist squad ready for TB.
He's clearly trying to make this post about how possible this event is without maxing out every character, this event is easy with the new toons... It's quite a useless brag
I'd congratulate someone if they accomplished something difficult
the amount of gear required for the GG team is way up there, and the team demands way too much for what it can actually do. there are g9 teams w/o zetas or incredible speed that can easily counter g12 teams in TW/GA, while this g12+ GG team cannot beat said teams, or any teams worth noting! so is it worth to gear/zeta this team? no. absolutely not. resoundingly, no. but what if they add a Padme that requires the team?? is it worth now? NO.
i'd say the fact that the GG team isn't built to kill a jolee (nor much of anything, in fact), and then instead of giving the GG team a tune-up after its failure of a rework... instead, CG has the gall to create a clone of jolee for this event!!! its just so insulting.
when i refunded my GG team, i told CG that i'd continue spending, on the one condition that this weak GG team was not the beginning of a trend of deception. and then comes along DR with suggestions to gear Marauder, who then became useless a week later, and CG says no refunds. shame on them. not to mention how they say JKA won't get nerfed, and then they nerf him...
then there's every other bad thing they've done in the last few months...they take rewards we've been getting for ages, and they remove them, or reduce them...
there's nothing to stop CG from continuing with this destructive destabilization of the game. no confidence = no spending. its all plenty enough reason to just walk away from the game. CG does not deserve to be called a game developer, because they simply are not. they operate a casino, not a game.
whales are quitting. CG will not respond well to this. not like they should. they will do the corporate thing, which is to squeeze the remaining players for more money, rather than try to bring back players who've left over greedy abusive decisions.
