Time To Talk Endgame

Prev1
If you haven’t seen it yet, well you might need to stop reading. But seriously, you haven’t seen it yet? Put down your communication device and go see it now. Even my friends who are parents of multiple little force wielders have seen it.

Anyways. Anybody else feel that expectations have been greatly increased for Rise of Skywalker? Endgame culminated what, 11 years of cinema storytelling? Pales in comparison to the 40+ years of Star Wars movie magic/madness-depending-on-how-you-view-the-Prequels (me personally it’s all magical, even Jar-Jar *gasp*), not to mention the Clone Wars, Rebels, and the now 6 or so years of new canon material in terms of comic books, novels, etc.

Needless to say, Rise Skywalker has some work cut out for it. Expectations have gone through the roof, quite possibly all the way to Hoth. Sure I have my own thoughts on how it should end, but it’s not my story to tell, so just give all of us something that will make us leave wanting to watch every Star Wars movie all over again for the 100th time, like Endgame did. Make us feel the feels when certain main characters sacrifice themselves, not just “oh yeah good for them thinking about the greater good.” Make us proud for having invested so much of our lives into this made up world (I mean come on, ROTJ and onwards Star Wars is for kids - yet I’ll still be flashing my Star Wars/Harry Potter/LOTR tattoo proudly when I’m 90).

Anyways. I’m avoiding doing work by writing this. Should probably get back to it. Some closing thoughts:

1. Fat Thor? Love it. Asguardians of the Galaxy? Can’t wait.
2. C’mon, we all knew this whole time Cap was worthy.
3. Thought I was going to miss RDJ more. Cap wasn’t even in my top 3 favs. After seeing it twice, turns out “what even is the MCU without Cap?” Maybe he’ll stick around and help Fury out with paperwork or something. Really gonna miss him.
4. Even while watching it for the second time and seeing the Thanos ship guns turn skyward and someone says “something just entered the upper atmosphere,” I still was channeling my inner Bruce Banner and yelling “You guys are screwed now!” as the Lady Captain made her epic entrance. Ok - didn’t actually yell it but that’s what my facial expression said.

Thanks for reading.

For some odd reason I’ve hated Iron Man since day one. After seeing Endgame, he’s one of my favorites. It’s a true tribute to a great saga.
  • Aside from episodes 4, 5, and 6 have any SW films lived up to the hype? If you still believe someone will make a good SW movie then you may need to see a mental health specialist.

Can we discuss how Thanos' powers seem to increase/decrease exactly as the plot requires?

3-4 Infinity Stones - almost get the gauntlet off, with 6+ superheroes.

0 Infinity Stones + dumb sword - can handle a full blown hit by Stormbreaker AND Mjolnir simultaneously.

Ah, the epic ness of CGI make believe movies, there the best.
Edit: Young Thanos probably did CrossFit.

Because of pure hatred. When he saw himself die by the hands Thor, via Nebula's memories, he became so rage fueled that he was even stronger than the Infinity Stones could make him( without any emotions involved).
In Infinity War he wanted to balance out the universe, with no emotions attached to his plan other than the loss of his homeworld. The Avengers were a mere nuisance to his plan.
But in Endgame he started to hate the Avengers and his goal was to wipe out the entire universe and reshape it after his ideals while eliminating all opposition in the process.
His anger made him stronger, like it makes a Sith Lord or dark side users in general, much stronger.

At least that's what I came to my mind as an explanation when reflecting about the movie, without having the simple reason of the plot requiring him to be.

    Interesting.

Haha I didn’t think about that. But you can’t underestimate Mantis apparently. Maybe physically he can take anything short of a “kryptonite” sword; mentally he isn’t as strong (but still pretty strong haha).

This. If Thanos would have used them against Malak, CG would have made sure those bad boys would have been nerfed to the ground.
In game name: Lucas Gregory FORMER PLAYER - - - -"Whale blah grump poooop." - Ouchie

    In game guild: TNR Uprising

I honestly really do love rogue one. In my opinion the 30 seconds of Vader in the hallway at the end are the best 30 seconds in any star wars film.

Not a fan of anything else Disney has done though

Well it did take me almost a month to watch Endgame, since this was posted...
Dad bod Thor? No. The only way I can stand Thor since Ragnarok is if he is mentally breaking, which for a god, seems impossible.

Now that time travel has been introduced, I think all bets are off. Plus the trailer for Spider-Man Far from Home introduced the multi-verse, so I would not count Tony or Steve out of the running. Gamora is still around, but a younger version.

Honestly Captain Marvel was dumb. Not as a character, but what was more important than stopping Thanos from getting the infinity stones and destroying the universe?

Endgame was a huge horrible mess of a movie. Infinity War was near perfection.
Why wasn't Cobb Vanth shards a reward for the Krayt Dragon raid? Why wasn't Endor Gear Luke shards a reward for the Speeder Bike raid?

    Yes, please do.
  • I wanna know how the Gamora angle will work in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. Did they return her to her proper time? According to the time travel explanation, that would create a separate branch. It kinda screws the whole put-everything-back-when-it-was-taken concept.

    Time travel didnt make sense.

The reality they made for themselves just screwed over all the other timelines going on.

Thanos won by default. No way half the population disappears and comes back five years later without issues as a shortage of food and work. There would be mass starvation and huge masses of people without jobs living on the streets. Thanos won as civilization would crumble under the weight of everyone coming back.

How does Hulk hold the Time Stone?

How does Hawkeye hold the Soul Stone?

Tony put on the glove and didnt feel any pain like the Hulk.

Cpt Marvel took the glove and tried to get it back to Ironman instead of just wearing it and snapping it herself.

Thanos puts on the glove and doesnt feel the power go away when Ironman swipes them out. (why didnt they just take them out when they fought him in Infinity War?)

With Cpt America going back to live his life it means there are two Cpt Americas as he is still frozen ice. How will that work?

How do you return the Soul Stone? (What happened when Cpt America saw Red Skull?)

How do you return the Reality Stone?

Bucky doesnt age at all but Cpt America going back makes him age tremendously.

After Tony snaps he is hurt and cant move. Why didnt Thanos walk over and grab the gauntlet and reverse it? Why did he just look around and then sit down and wait?

When Peter went back to school wouldnt have his class have grown up and graduated?

Just a few things I can think of off the top of my head.

Okay so you don’t watch many movies.

It’s fake, man! If you try to point out every little error, you’re petty and annoying. The point is to enjoy it and maybe get something out of it, like the message. I mean don’t you think the directors realized that there were some flaws? If this time travel was correctly created, wouldn’t it be possible for our particle physicists to figure out time travel? They also have to leave stuff for future movies to solve.

Let me ask you this: Is the Force real? How does gravity work on a spaceship? Shouldn’t different planets and moons have different amounts of gravity? Aerodynamics much?

It's the off topic thread. I would love to discuss the Avengers. IMHO, they're doing an incredible job at making movies.

    Time travel didnt make sense.

It wasn't back to the future, they made that clear

The reality they made for themselves just screwed over all the other timelines going on.

That it did, kinda. Depending on what things or people who were taken from the past, would only create a singular blanch from that moment in time. The multi-verse may be created from those events, maybe not. That all depends on how many items or people didn't return to their proper place.

Tony put on the glove and didnt feel any pain like the Hulk.

He might have, but didn't show it?

Cpt Marvel took the glove and tried to get it back to Ironman instead of just wearing it and snapping it herself.

To be fair, Captain Marvel wasn't spectacular at all. Barely had screen time, and when she did show up at the end, she didn't really do anything special.

With Cpt America going back to live his life it means there are two Cpt Americas as he is still frozen ice. How will that work?

Because 2 Caps can exist at the same time, one was safely frozen where nobody would find him. Perhaps when Steve Rogers went back to live a fulfilled life, maybe he took on a different name.

How do you return the Soul Stone? (What happened when Cpt America saw Red Skull?)

This kinda creates a problem, but not for the scene where it was taken. Black Widow could still be alive, if Cap Returned it to the point where Hawkeye and Black Widow were fighting over who would sacrifice themselves.

How do you return the Reality Stone?

After Tony snaps he is hurt and cant move. Why didnt Thanos walk over and grab the gauntlet and reverse it? Why did he just look around and then sit down and wait?

Thanos knew his end was near and was probably too weak to use the stones since he was about to be turned to ash.

When Peter went back to school wouldnt have his class have grown up and graduated?

Unless his whole school vanished too. We will have to wait for Far From Home. But its not like the comics weren't all over the place and had plot holes either.

Just a few things I can think of off the top of my head.

Indeed. I know the comics got crazy with characters dying and coming back, but didn't know the movies would go that in depth.

I wonder if the X-men will show up too, especially now that Disney owns fox. Although I don't know if I could see anyone else being Wolverine. Hugh Jackman was awesome, IMHO.

Hugh was the best. I’m pretty sure the X-Men are slated to join soon, though. Maybe after the next big baddie, which is rumored to be Norman Osborn and a specific gang of six super villains...

I was wondering about the high school thing. That part really didn’t make sense.

I assumed the kids at school were just the snapped ones.

I bet they will explain it like that. IDK.
Just seems like The Ancient One is going to be very upset with Cap and especially Bruce, since he promised everything will go back to its rightful time.

Another issue for future movies ;)

Seems like it would be cool. The xmen would be a major issue to include, since they're not talked about and I want to say that the MCU has implied they don't exist. The only real "crossovers are spider-man, scarlet witch and quick silver.
