The Geonosian Brute Alpha is cool considering Geonosians can mass assist every time they hit. Except, Padmé literally counters them. (Nest potentially?)

I don't know if this was intentional but why make a team that already has such a massive counter?

Edit: I don't have Padmé but I'm assuming if a unit loses the bonus protection during a mass assist they regain another one if the protection is lost before the final enemy assists.

  • Padme did real well against them in the movie!

I think it should be expected that Padmé and other GR teams will do so well against them. The “new” Geonosians kind of remind me of the Nightsisters. They revolve around some powerful new mechanics.

What’s wrong with creating toons with existing counters? They already said they struggle against Traya lead and every toon / team has a counter

Not every toon release has to be game breaking

He has more uses than Padme team

    see above.

not every toon needs to be made for PvP.

This is a required toon for the TB, and is great for PvE.

I am really excited to have 4 characters on my roster to no longer be useless.

Such a shame that this game consists solely of Arena and absolutely nothing else at all what so ever.

Well....... If I could ensure EVERY GA I was involved in they had to use padme, nest, GG against this squad, then it means one of their best squads is gone. If a team has narrow counters, than its worth farming. If a team can be defeated by nearly everyone, then it definitely isn't. Everything stated abover would mean either a NS team survives, I don't face a nest, padme, wampa, or it means GG is used. That's not nothing.

That being said, phases 4 thru 6 on Hoth TW have a lot of special battles. We're all already grinding our bugs, now we have a VERY SOLID leader to pair with them.

Hey, if an opponent has to pull out a top shelf team just to take care of Geonosians, those bugs become vastly more useful than they ever were.

Absolutely. Just makes ne wish even more we could see some info, such as which squads were used to attack us in TW and GA.

If you put the Geonosians on defense and the enemy needs to use their Padme team to take them out, your Geonosian team has done well and cost the opponent a very powerful team.

Padme GR is at or near the scale of Revan; there is very little it cannot defeat on offense. Any defensive team that takes that level of squad to take it out is a good defensive squad.

But, will it take a Padme team to kill Geos? I have a feeling some other teams are going to do just fine against Geos as well and it would be wise not to waste Padme on them.

The health steal they have + the health pool is pretty amazing. I think they'll be like nightsisters. Yes there are nightsister counters, but if you send a normal team into them, you're going to have your **** handed to you.

I don't think many teams will be able to brute force through the bug hive mind. (With the healing that they have)

Yes there will be counters, but I lost a lot of GA rounds to sisters until I built a proper counter and I suspect the same will apply here.

Even then, at the end of a GA when you've burnt through the front wave, to have SURPRISE bugs at the end you may have already used your counters.

regardless, the point made remains true as long as it requires a decent team. Preferably teams commonly used to counter other teams you can also field on def.
Writing off teams because they're not arena grade happens quite often on this forum and doesn't do those teams justice imo. I'm very glad not every team/toon released is arena grade. Hopefully the teams "nessecary" like this geo team will most likely be to unlock wat tambor are atleast solid "B teams" (like BH/NS/Ewoks etc etc. Good return on investment as well as fun to play with.)

    You expecting a bug meta?

They said it's best for PVE...the new territory battle.

Not meta but more so a defensive team in GA, TW, Ect. Couldn't nest put up a good fight too?
Not defensive, the developer of the character specifically said it would be a great offensive team in GA and TW, not defensive.

The assertion was that releasing brood alpha is pointless because Padme is a hard counter.

The counter-assertion is that if you need Padme to hard-counter Geonosians, they are a good team.

Will Padme be the level of team required? Probably not. But we'll see.

Jango lets you ignore taunts, right? I feel like Jango Bounty Hunters might be a good counter. Rush his contract, nuke Alpha through the taunt, Hive Mind disappears. You even get a decent amount of AoE in case all else fails and you need to burn everyone to get through that normalization.

*shrugs* Just a thought. My Jango's nowhere near ready. Had to interrupt his farm to finish Old Republic.

You can't burst down the Alpha, the taunt forces you to attack the brute which presumabl has better damage reduction than say spy. But say the taunt wasn't there and you directed all attacks at Alpha, after every attack his health is equalised with the rest.

Bounty hunters have access to heal immunty though. Whilst that won't stop the redistribution it will stop the health steal.

Nhilus (ignoring how mean Traya is vs Bugs) can happily one shot them though...

Boba's mass ability block to prevent cleanses and spreading dots, burns and thermals paired with several AoEs can be good for hunters going up against hunters.

This. They seem like a specialist team that you will need a specialist team to go up against.

  • What if the Genosian Brute has Wampa's kit and stats?

That's why you're using Jango as your leader--His payout gives all Bounty Hunters the Bounty Hunter's Resolve unique buff that allows them to ignore taunts (and revive when killed, but that's not particularly relevant here) so you can just ignore the Brute's taunt.

Jango, Boba, Dengar, and IG-88 have AoE that debuffs to help fuel Jango's contract, add your favorite fifth--Greedo for single target would probably help with the burning down once the payout is activated, or Zam to burst multiple detonators if you get lucky with Dengar's AoE.

AoE is key (it's even AoKEY!) on account of you can think of Hive Mind Geonosians as one big health pool, so spreading out your damage isn't the liability it could be. DoTs and Detonators (and Plague, for Nightsisters) seems like it'd help a helluva lot, too, since those do their damage before the unit takes its action.

And don't sleep on Execute. With enough debuffs you can just outright kill a bug before the health gets equalized.
What if the Genosian Brute has Wampa's kit and stats?
We know the Brute's kit already, it's posted in the Brood Alpha's reveal. We don't know the stats, just that they scale with the Brood Alpha's.
