  Here's what I do.
  
  1) Open mod shop
  2) Scroll, looking for 5 dot gold.
  3a) If found, consider buying.
  3b) If not, go to next tab.

  I do the same thing except I'd like to see more gold and purple 5 dot mods instead of something I'll never buy

  He's the walk past it and ignore it type of dude, I'm the stop, look at it, try to fix before I move on.
