Galactic War roadblocks

I am level 76 now, just under 3 months into the game, and have built a decent Phoenix team [all 7* G7-G8 except Hera, who will be 6* tomorrow], but I keep hitting a roadblock with a Nihilus-led team [usually at battle #6 of 12]. I just cannot seem to muster enough damage to plow through his health and self-healing before he instantly wipes one of my units off the table. This is seriously cutting into my GW token farming capabilities.

Any suggestions on how to deal with this guy/team with my current [and only] team, or is it just a case of "GG, seeya next War"?

**EDIT**: I hadn't set this up when I originally posted, maybe it will help: http://swgoh.gg/u/kathrajoril

  • Off the top of my head I suggest trying to keep him stunned with Zeb. If he can’t take a turn he can’t annihilate anyone.

Overall though I would say gear up Thrawn and Palpatine. That gives you the core of another decent GW team. Sometimes you have to send in a burner team to kill off the leader or damage dealer and then follow up with your regular squad. Of course if you don’t kill DN he may have annihilate ready to go when you bring in the next team so you have to watch out for that.

Once you get past node 6 they should be easier until 10 or so.
  • At your level, you should start building an empire team. As mentioned above, Thrawn and Emperor Palpatine are two key characters for that team. I would probably go with Palpatine, Thrawn, Vader, Tie Fighter Pilot and Tarkin. Mod them for speed/potency, and use EP as your lead. Play the first node with your empire team, using only basic attacks to win. Go through the rest of the nodes with Phoenix (since they can regenerate very easily) until you get to a node that you get stuck on, and then swap in your Empire team team who will have preloaded turn meter and all their specials available. If you do that, they can take on teams much more powerful than they are, because you can go first and take several turns before the enemy team gets to take any.

I'd love to gear up Thrawn and Palpatine, once I have them. I hadn't set this up when I originally posted, maybe it will help: http://swgoh.gg/u/kathrajoril

If you have a full squad of 6-7* g7-8 Phoenix you should be able to unlock and probably 6* both Thrawn and EP. Both events are permanently available via the Journey Guide.

You can totally get both of them with this Phoenix squad

You can improve your Phoenix team instantly by working on your mods. First off level all your speed arrows to level 15 and put them on your Phoenix team:

Give Zeb a potency primary cross (lvl. 15) to increase the chance of landing daze/stun:

Then take whatever other 5 dot mod with suitable stats to lvl. 15 and put it on your Phoenix squad. Mod Ezra for damage (offense cross, offense/CC/CD triangle and so on), Chopper for tanking (health sets with protection primary circle/cross/triangle) and so on.

You will end up with a significantly stronger team.

(and yes, building an empire team is your next step and will help you as well as others already mentioned)

Is the level 85 block in place for Palp and Thrawn? That could be stopping him, and that's so ridiculous. If you can win an event under-leveled, I don't see why you shouldn't be allowed to do so (is it to prevent cheating?).

I highly doubt it. Almost certain I unlocked both somewhere in the mid-70s. They are among the easiest legendaries.

Neither one of them have a level 85 prerequisite.

@KathraJoril thisnis the best advice you will get.. mods are super important, there’s an online tool called grandivory that is also very very good, consider using it to look at your mod situation.

Also, you have a 7* toon, get out of the starter guilds and find an actual one that will help you get motoring as well, post an advert in the recruitment section. I’ve also added you as an ally (it’s a trap) give me a shout if you need help or want a different toon set as leader for you. Will help get through the farming tables.
