Lando is OK, but I have no real means of tiering him up, bar a lucky Bronzium pull. There is just no value in Chromium after a certain point, even ignoring the RNG and testimonies of both godly and uncannily poor luck. I collect the characters for the enjoyment of collection, but it's not like I don't enjoy playing the game. Even with his relative strength at rank 4, I usually prefer to use Vader, Ahsoka or sometimes HK-47. The first two just have much more engaging ability mechanics and appealing visual design. Lando is just a dude in a cape who either blows you away with his gun or calls an aistrike on you and potentially creates the maelstrom of pain you described.

It's really not as bad as you mentioned, though, especially if you're playing against the AI and not on the receiving end of an attack. Have to manually control him to try for a basic attack crit to have the best chance of two crits or more. I mean, I usually don't in PvE and it really depends on the enemy team comp for PvP. But it's not a guaranteed thing, despite his crazy crit passive and the statistically decent chance of two out of five hits critting, even when teamed with a Sidious. Overall, he is very powerful, but not relatively broken like Leia and Ben are. At least not at base rank, since I assume he only gets insanely more powerful with each star. I shudder to think of a 6 star, let alone a 7 star level 60. :o

But I digress. He's still very squishy at the rank I have experience with, and definitely manageable if the enemy does not have some completely cancer setup, of which there aren't a crazy amount of that solely revolve around a strong attacker, AoE crits or not. Or maybe there are, I'm fairly casual lol. Hope you get him in a Bronzium one day, as he is definitely fun to use in light side campaign missions. Make those dumb Stormtroopers and pirates a stain on the earth, thinking they're so smart for bringing more homies. More free crits. ;)

edit: Had to change the censored word to dumb, which is, well... stoopid? :D

I just threw vader into my aoe team, haven't had a chance to test him in pvp yet, what do you think of him? I love the way his character model looks.
  • Yes, lands can keep resetting his aoe. Good character
  • He gets to be fairly useful once geared and leveled to 50-and-up. Mine is level 55 right now and has a power somewhere around 3200-3300. He's actually pretty useful for building up huge DoT in combination with Sidious. I actually find that I end up being too hasty with the execute, though, and either waste it or give the AI a free turn, because I just cleansed the stun on their tank and then they immediately taunt. :D Not super hard to use right, just gotta analyze the available options quickly without letting the match timer psych you out. I find his real strength is in shutting down users with big abilities through his ability block, stacked with Daka's stun. Sometimes, they have too much tenacity, or your RNG is just poor and it fails to proc/fails the roll against low tenacity. In general, I find him a pretty reliable controller, though. In between Daka and Finn, with Finn having the higher disable chance I believe. (Although Finn's stun/disable isn't on his basic attack, it's still a short cooldown)

Overall, I feel like he will still get outperformed by farmable, high rank heroes. Even supports like Luminara and Phasma, damage and/or debuff control-wise (Phasma maybe less so for raw damage, not counting the leader skill), but he is a great hero to use with certain teams. Not sure about an AoE team if you're going for raw damage AoE, like Sidious, Lando and er... I don't actually know who is good raw damage besides them. He is more about setting up debuffs for his execute and strategically disabling with ability block. Still, not bad with the AoE stacking/debuff application of Sidious and Kylo, if you can get him. That's my preferred setup. Even though both Kylo and Vader have some weaknesses, they complement eachother well and make up for them. Kylo being the somewhat durable damage/AoE retribution replacement for Dooku, and Vader being the fairly tanky (at least he feels that way in comparison to Kylo, who I believe just has high HP) controller and execution specialist, if Kylo weakens them first with his higher raw damage.

Sorry for being so wordy about your answer. I didn't actually give much good information regarding your question, but I think if you like the character's ability mechanics and visual design, go for it. He has done well by me in various different setups, at least in Galactic War. Should do well enough in your AoE comp too, with the proper support for his abilities. Have fun with him. :)

Thank you for the response, yeah my current team with vader is Sidious, Boba, Kylo, Lumi, and Vader. So lots of debuffs and solid aoe damage.
  • Lando is a handicap to any non AOE/Debuff heavy team. I have tried using him in singke target DPS crews and he really doesn't seem to stand out. What makes him so dangerous in a full AOE team is the compiled damage of all the AOE attacks will leave a team crippled but not beaten. Buuut with Lando after everyone has blew there AOEs is still dropping bombs with an 80% damage increase. That is when you see your opponents wiped out 3-4 at a time. Usually the only ones left are Barriss or Old Ben if your opponent has them. If not usually there is no one left by the end of the second turn.

The first order TIE pilot does a lot of damage. I have mine at gear level VI and level 49 and he hits for 2500+ while having a double attack most turns. I can't wait to see what this guy can do once I get leveled up higher and can unlock higher gear levels. I recommend everyone try him out asap. Just keep him protected because he's really squishy

Forgot to add, that's a 1 star TIE pilot too.
  • Whenever I see a new character I don't know anything about I kill it first. Just to be sure its not super OP.
