Is anyone at all happy with the shard shop?

I personally dislike it completely! The exchange rate sucks, the characters are usually quite common, and the refresh is unnecessary... opening up the entire pool of characters on a 5:1 exchange rate would be more than fair.

That is my opinion, but it seems quite common that people think lowly of it in general.

  • In my opinion, the exchange rate is perfect. It's not "impossible" to make use of the Shard Shop, but it is not easy either, which was its intended purpose. People seem to overlook its function; to be rid of shards you unfortunately get, this should not be a viable method of farming characters.

What i dislike about the Shard Shop is the lack of a refresh button, or the ability to chose any character shard you want. This would entice more people to utilize the Shard Shop. Another complaint of mine is the increased cost of General Grievous shards, yet I understand that changing that at this point would create a big uproar from people already invested in obtaining his shards.

    These are my two cents.
  • It's function is so that they didn't have make toons you've completed stop dropping out of crystal packs, so your chances at getting pack exclusive characters never improves insuring you have to keep buying them, it's designed to seem like it's a there to help when it's really there to insure $$$ keeps flowing in.
  • I'd like it if the exchange rate wasn't so absurd. I'd like it even more if you could trade in whole characters you never wanted but got in a pack. Then at least you wouldn't have to look at their 1 star mugs every day. Or am I the only one with that problem?

    ^^^ This

  • The exchange rate isn't the problem, as previously stated. The problem is that the shop has zero flexibility and was intended to boost shard/pack sales. It wasn't intended to be user friendly, which is really really unfortunate. I have no information on pack sales since the shop released, but the lack of flexibility (aka, making it a game to play) is what is hurting the experience.

What do I mean by flexibility? Turning in shards of unwanted characters (ewok scout, chewie, etc) to buy the shards we actually want should be the real way for this to be played, including turning in excess shards. No, it's not a main way to farm, nor should it be, but we would be getting full value from the packs/characters/shards we get and the unquenchable thirst of EA's love for money would also be satisfied.

How so? Well when you buy packs, you'll know that you'll get something out of every single one. That sounds pretty great to me, it guarantees a positive customer experience when they know there's no losing upon purchase. However, it's currently being run like roulette, assuming people will gamble and get shards to get to 7* and hoping they get shards for their already 7*, which, the second part is 100% counter intuitive.

Thing is: the rest could totally stay the same. The exchange rates, the non-manual resets, the limited number of available shard options during each open period, everything.

Viewing the bloated nature of our collections isn't endearing and doesn't make for an enjoyable gameplay experience. The happier people are, the more likely they are to spend money (eg. Vegas/casinos giving away drinks), it's simply a bad business model at this point. Buying packs and saying "great. X amount more Lobot shards. He doesn't go with my team..." isn't a feeling people want to duplicate.

If however: "lobot! Blech. Oh well, at least this puts me closer to grievous" the hope of a goal still remains and remains incentive to keep buying packs. Hopefully they see the wisdom in changing it and making it a functioning instead of a background part of the game.
  • I love the shard shop. I turn in the random shards I can't use, check every day to see if very hard to get characters (Vader) show up, and I get SOMETHING for those extra shards.

I also ignore Grievous, because he's a bonus for people WAY above my contribution rate. I don't whine about this obvious fact.
  • 2 shards exchange for 30 currency. They sell 2 shards for a cost of 300 currency. 10× what they pay you for them. that's frelling absurd and quit frankly a huge slap in the face. I'm holding onto my extra shards until they lower the cost and up the payout. I won't support they're **** system
  • I do like the fact that it is fun and chalangeing but I think that they should make the ratio a little bit less difficult. Perhaps the ratio should be 2:1 for characters other than grievous in the shop
  • I hate it. It's a symbol of EA/CG's overwhelming greed. It's not user friendly, the trade-off is terrible, and the only time I've used it is when the game recently gave me these useless Phasma shards after I already maxed her (very easy to do, unlike Poe whom Android is getting).

TLDR: it sucks as bad as EA's customer support.

The shard shop is a joke... and its on the cheap skates like me who can't afford to put $500 or more in this game (i have $30 invested ) i have Asajj Ventress to 7 stars, and grevious seems to be forever out of reach . I won't sacrifice a dozen could be powerful characters to get one weakened, non fighting, easy to kill grevious. Ive seen him in the arena, with yoda.. and i killed them both without fear, or hesitation.
  • Dang I just done research in reviews for the shard shop. Thanks im def not looking forward to it or have to bust my b@llz to get a level 7 character. Th@aaank god I didnt spend a dime on this game. Been playing for almost 2 months maybe and im on level 54, 20 shards away from getting vader, and im ranked in the high 290 of sqaud arena. Ill work with what I have
  • Yes, Darth Vader Shards

  • The exchange rate is a little high though! The exchange rate is to high though!

The 10:1 exchange rate is, absurd.

When there was the "bug" and 2 shards cost 150 shard currency, it was almost usable. Of course that was nerfed asap. Every other shop in the game is 5 shards for 400 currency. This one is 750 currency for 5 shards, or 150 per shard versus 80 per shard elsewhere. This is on top of only getting 15 currency credit for a shard.

I will never buy a shards here until either an excess shard is increased in value, or the cost/shard is 80 currency.
  • Shard shop supposed has it own potential, just whhhhy cg you put crappy content in there and leave it alone
Feedback: They can just make all shard convert able and as for 7star toon exceed shard convert for double shard point at least people feel rewarded by having 7s, and other addition such, daily task(shard), first 10 shard trade got triple shard point per day, convert to cantina/arena token etc.
    the cake is a lie

I think it sucks, but I also don't think it should be changed... If it was easy, It would be too cheap of a way to get toons for people that can't figure out how to beat levels on their own.. And it diminishes the value of toons people paid for. I hate ptw, but ptw is how free games like this can exist. Its not like owning a server or having a group of people coding and testing things doesn't cost money..

Shard Shop isn't even a necessary function for the game! Its a nice bonus they added. IMHO

Accept the challenge to unlock new Hard or Cantina Battles. Beat them and earn shards. Farm hard for something you CANT beat or cant afford to pay w/ real money...

EDIT: I would joyfully welcome a better ratio. But I don't expect it and I won't be mad if there is none.

The exchange rate is too high for a average player, even if u play 12hours a day for 3 or 4 month also not easy though to exchange the shards u need for characters you need,

unless u really can get free shards in store for characters u already own 7* and put those extra shards to exchange but still....

Far than enough to exchange with this little luck....

This rate is just like saying, if you not using cash for this game, than you better wait another century for the thing that you need ? agree ?

Free game is good but if too focus on cash item, will cause the server not balance enough within players.

NO, like the rest of the games prices on crystals, data cards and so forth, I am saddened by these greedy game developers!
  • Honestly I would welcome the exchange rate present if they allowed you to convert it to any character shard you want but since it isn't the rate, it needs to be more user friendly. The main focus of having GG in there either need to change it or massively buff him so the grind is worth it. I don't hate the shard shop but it was definitely underwhelming to have it unlock and have no use for it. It's the fact of if it's hard to get make it worth unlocking and GG is not worth the grind and should as good as Yoda/EP/R2.
