How does login rewards work?

How does it actually work? The way I see it I have to login 42 times in December to get all the rewards. But I get only one reward a day, so December will be over before I even collect half of them. I play several times a day but get just one reward.

Do you need to add them up again as I only count 31?

You only get rewarded the daily reward for the very first login of the day. Regardless of how many other times you login throughout the rest of the day. So if you missed a few days in the month, it will be impossible to get to the end.
