The Policy on Cheaters

  • Greetings Heroes of the Galaxy,

Many of you know me... and many of you do not. All that really matters at this point is that you know why I am here and what I can do for you.

Like Jesse said: send me a PM with details and I will dig in for you. The most important details are your id or ally code and the player's name you are concerned about. From there I can dive in and see what shenanigans are afoot.

I am a big believer in the "firm-but-fair" method. And unless you are cutting me personal checks I don't care how much money you spent... I've been doing this here for a long time, and have yet to find a big-spender that outranks me.

Let's get this party going... I put my hunting boots on, and sharpened me battle-hammer.... time to get messy!

To everyone in this thread that has no problem with them moving cheaters off into their own server...it's called principle. Basically the developers are saying they are far more interested in saving whatever money they have made from current / past cheaters and are avoiding refunds. If you don't see that as a HUGE problem with the developer of the game, then you have a really long way to go in life. It's also called integrity. They don't even respect their own game. ANY developer SHOULD be disgusted when their game gets hacked, abused, and manipulated at the cost of their "valued" customers or the image of their product.

I already dislike this games model for P2P, it's one of the worst I've seen yet...but this reaction from the developer was icing on the cake on how they view F2P and medium (50-100 a month) P2P. It's really really sad to see gaming come to this. Price gouging on a whole new level, and "accepting" cheating as a way of life in your game. Whatever happened to standing up for your product no matter if it costs you your own money or bottom line. From this point on there will always be questions if your game is "legit" if whales are really whales, or if people earned what they have. Not to mention that since I choose a moral path on life and don't believe on cheating to get ahead I need to spend THOUSANDS to fully experience and enjoy your game, but someone else with lesser values will be able to with your blessings almost.

(I LOVED spending ~50 bucks on gems to try and level up my FOTP from 4*to 5*...and didn't even get ONE single promote star out of it over the 4 days I used the crystals, instead of buying a FULL console game. I finally realized after not getting ONE star out of SEVEN, on ONE character out of 60 that this few hundred dollar investment so far was a waste...but thats another story).
I think a proper punishment, if an alternate server really is necessary, is to strip that server of all of its features. Let the hackers enjoy the sight of a blank cantina.

Jk, well kinda. Good luck hunting.

really? Isn't everyone who buys crystals 'cutting your check'? Even the CEO of a company has people that outrank him...they are called shareholders. Without customers, without shareholders, there is no company. What job would you have if people weren't spending money?

It really wasn't that creepy an intro or anything, and yet he has this feeling of dread and doom around him.

Kind of like The Undertaker just walked in the room or something. (The good one from the old days. Not the weird new one.) :o

You get to meet Lucifer's daddy.
  • Can't believe it but I get it though. Now the only problem is, if someone is a paying customer, that's where the biggest trouble lies because if the cheat server isn't hospitable, they'll hit the refund button.

They should have given more information on how they track players and reliability of finding cheaters. I would hate to see innocent people get wrongly accused by paranoid customers who report everyone.

Second problem is the mod users who are smart and blend in, not trying for first with their underpowered teams. They'll definitely be challenged...

I almost feel sorry for CG on this one, this is a tough battle. I imagine the guy handling this will now suddenly have over 1000 cases on his desk..

Can't wait to hear the outrage on forums from people wrongly accused of cheating.

Wrongly accused users will definitely rage quit as they pound the refund button never to return. The question really is can they find the mod users with 100% certainty???

Ok everyone, there seems to be a lot of focus on the option for cheaters to be moved to their own leaderboard. Are you forgetting the other 2 options?
    • A permanent ban will be issued.
    • A temporary ban will be issued.

There are a lot of you reacting to our original post as if we're only putting cheaters onto a different leaderboard, but that's simply not the case. Players who are found to be using any hack will be permanently banned. And who says that those cheaters that do get moved to the new leaderboard will have all of the same rewards? ;)

Thanks Jesse. Love the transparency. You can't please everyone.

They cannot. It is technically impossible without breaking the law.

If they can't verify that a user is cheating, they shouldn't do anything then. If what you state is true, I can report the Top 10 on my server and be done with them. Just report anyone that bugs me, that would scare me,and it should scare all...

Welcome sir. Good to see you.

WHAT!!!!!! Well hello kind sir... I see you have decided to branch out and take a shot at running the entire galaxy. You gonna turn in that Gandolf for a Yoda?

On a serious note to all: I am not about to disclose the methods we are using to find and verify nefarious playing.... Our tricks and tools are our own, and I will use them liberally.

I'd also like to point out that anyone who feels like reporting people to me just cause you don't like them.. well that is going to be a problem... for you. Not only will it weaken your credibility with me, it will likely have you put onto my "list." This is not a good list.

And note that just reporting someone does not in anyway guarantee action will be taken, investigations sure, actions not so much. There exists a plethora of reasons that a player might appear to be in violation, when in fact they are not. (e.g. lower power squad wins does not always equal cheat... in fact often it just means they are employing a strategy that utilizes more than just squad brute-strength.... think healer and counter-attackers.)

I'm happy that CG will not be trigger happy here, judging by what I read above, picking out cheaters sounds difficult since a good player can be hard to differentiate from a cheater...

Sounds great to me! Ban the hackers and heavy exploiters, slap a few on the wrist. And the option to put some of the not ban worthy on a leader board of their own is a sound idea. We don't need to deal with them, and if guilds open up in the future, the exploiters are likely gonna have a hard time finding a good one that way. Thumbs up!
  • Enthousiatic suggestion: list out all 7/6 Vaders account now and perma ban these meat bags master. I would very much enjoy to see them burn.

    "Hk mode over"

But seriously show me you mean business. It's an easy win for you and people will think twice before they mess with the clown.

Also don't be afraid of refund spending and cheating don't mix well. In the long run you will surely profit more from having a spine and will give credibility your game
  • The smarter Vaders cheaters will hide them for a few months. (Hopefully you guys can still track this)

    The rest report on sight.
  • Excuse my cynicism but this is the solution for cheaters? One guy policing millions of players. How could that fail? These forums are better entertainment for me than playing the game. And it is 100% free.

I can't even believe this is an option. I can see the first 2 depending on the severity but to say that it's ok and you will now only compete against others who cheat and exploit? Not cool. It's like saying that criminals who got arrested for robbing banks will be moved to a special city where only other bank robbers live and are able to rob the local bank..is that really a punishment?

    That's called jail.[/quote

Which jail has a bank in it again?

I mean, I use direct deposit and online banking so I haven't been to my local bank in forever, but I think I would have noticed a jailhouse attached to it.

Hahaha please stop, my sides are hurting!
