Question about buying bundles with characters in them that you already have?

Hey does anyone know if you buy a bundle where they guarantee you a certain 4 star character but you already have that character... does it have no effect or with it add on top of what that current characters level is?

It will be converted to the character's shards. The amount of shards received will be based on the star level of the card.
