New Gear Discussion

Some characters are not really benefiting from new gear.

Im going to use Biggs as an example:

He needs a total of 4 new gear to get maxed out, those are:

1) Mk 8 Loronar Power Cell:

+60 Intelligence
+15 Armor
+18 Resistance
+1.0% Tenacity

2) Mk 12 ArmaTek Cybernetics:

+100 Intelligence
+70 Physical Damage
+60 Physical Critical Rating

3) Mk 12 ArmaTek Visor:

+60 Armor
+60 Resistance

4) Mk 12 ArmaTek Tactical Data:

+110 Intelligence
+55 Resistance

As you can see he gets a total of 270 Intelligence (Tactics) which in turn will give him quite a boost in Special Damage and Resistance. But the problem is, Biggs does not benefit from Special Damage at all, he only gets damage from Physical Damage and the attribute linked to that is Agility.

How do you choose which gear for what character? Is it random? Was this a mistake? If not, why would you do this?

Biggs is just ONE example, there are a bunch of characters with the same problem. Please share some info regarding this.

Hey there! I’m one of the Game Balance Specialists here at Capital Games.

New gear, whether it be adding currently obtainable pieces or entirely new pieces, is an opportunity to address concerns in the meta. Wedge and Biggs have been around for a long time, and they’ve taken their turn (and then some) in the spotlight. In order to promote a changing meta that keeps the game interesting and engaging, gear choices were made to curb the “Danger Zone” duo’s impact on the upcoming G12 meta. While we can appreciate an affinity toward characters already acquired and maxed, the game would get boring if the same old characters were always viable.

Do not be dismayed, though! If these characters are working for you now on your particular shard, you still have time to get use out of them before G12 becomes more prevalent.

Interesting approach...instead of directly nerfing some very good characters, you just not let them benefit from g12 as much as other toons...This was quite a smart move, well done...

Thank you so much for the response, first time a DEV answers me. I personally have never used wiggs, was mostly curious about how you guys balanced those gears. Thank you again for the response I truly appreciate it

These are the kinda of nerfs a I approve of. Don't shut the character down by ruining a good kit, just bring their power into line with other in a single way. Very well done.

Oh come on, buffing everything but the characters that people are annoyed with has been suggested for ages, since direct nerfs aren't wanted. Don't get me wrong though, I'm very glad it happened

Can we get a list of the toons that will be pathetic at G12? Thanks.

And which toons are those? Cause it's not just going to be Wiggs. It'll probably be some of the toons you like and spent a lot of time investing in.

I would say there is more of an economic angle to this. I want my clone team to be what they have never been but they were a stab at 5 toon feeding frenzy that didn't work out for EA. I would love a revision there.
They clipped Vader to make way. Wow, that toon took so long, I zeta him in may then bam.

Spend more on new toons. ;-)

    Thanks for replying tho dev!

so you nerf people such as biggs and wedge, who on most mature shards have died out month and months ago by giving them worthless gear? How does that add up at all? They at this point are not meta, and by the time you can give them gear 12, are so far gone you wont see them in the top 50 anymore, and this isnt about just wiggs, but gearing in general, there should be never be a point you have to give a character gear and think well dam this isnt good for them at all, but i have to just to get to the next gear level. Looking at your example alone, they gain tons of intellect? what like 300 of it, like that is 100% not useful

No matter who it is every piece has some cost either weeks of grinding or 25+ dollars to give should feel worth it, and with giving some characters worthless gear just cause with a gear increase is only going to end up with less people buying your gear. i had 4 people i planned on working on going g12, but seeing how little the gain was because of the gear per cost, i have no intentions.

This is the wrong way to *nerf* people who have not been meta in a long time in a weird way to play your power creep to make sure everyone needs to buy the new best character you release. You release a pack who can make someone like r2 insta g12 who is very much meta and has been for a while on a mix of teams, behind a 60 dollar pay wall, and yet, no nerf.

Case in point, newest person being luke, which i have, does have a weak point, his health, if focused he can be brought down fast, yet you fix this by giving him a piece of gear giving his i think 19k health i have him at modded another 6k health. clearly a needed gear piece. He is currently owning the entire meta, but you give him this gear, while someone like wedge after fully g12 has what 16.9 life? this wasnt just about meta, but a meta that you can make money off of plain and simple.

In the end, I feel like i should never have to put a piece of gear on someone , with the cost you associate with it, on someone no matter who, that is literally 100% worthless just for the sake of your idea of balance, when big money makers like luke only got big gear upgrades in every slot because hes new and shiny and costly. Especially to characters who people already put time and money into only later, with new gear be made worthless to upgrade past there g11 point that people already shelled out for.

Well you could have gaved then white lvl 1 items instead of that. Would be to a nerv but they would not need items who someone would spend it on Chars where it's worth to gear. Because some point gear XIII will come and we want then gear that chars

@simplyunsure Not sure what shard you are on, but Wiggs became quite common with the appearance of CLS.

Wedge is on 5% of top 10 teams, CLS is on 75% of top 10 teams. I think he has a point, your shard must be the outlier. With that said, the wiggs kill button is a great counter to CLS teams as you can't counter if you're dead.

will consider this bug and not working as intended until devs tell otherwise.
Here is what happened to me . I wanted to gear Princess Leia to G12 and I needed to farm
MK4 Zaltin gel salvages in quantity of 50 to craft MK6 Stun Gun... So I did... It was HARD farm with many resources scarified to complete it.
Then I went for gear check and opened Finn gear screen , entered in Piece MK4 Zaltin Bacta gel..
I saw I needed it but I knew my Leia needs the same so I JUST CRAFTED IT and I DID NOT EQUIP IT.
Then, I went back to Leia and I noticed I can't craft Mk6 Stun gun because I am missing 50 MK4 Zaltin gel pieces...
Dear devs, if I need 50 MK4 Zaltin salvages it is as same as MK4 Zaltin Gel piece... so why did you do this ?
Same situation if I need stun gun mk5 and I craft 50 mk3 carbanti salvages into MK3 Carbanti piece I can still use it to craft Mk5 Stun Gun....
Why did you change the way we optimize and handle our gear ?
Parts of G11 like Stun Gun 5 are handled and accumulated in one way and new parts of the same gear level work in different way.
I feel cheated because I still have 50 Mk4 salvages only crafted in 1 piece. But I can't use it anymore for purpose I intended it...
This should be emphasized as a first and foremost thing : The way you collect handle schedule and maintain your gear has changed.
Of course I will farm 50 pieces again but I post this message so people can avoid making same mistake as I did...
Prototypes for new G11 gear do not exist... shame on me for making this mistake ... and shame on devs for not emphasizing gear models change.
    Please fix this bug.
Sry for bad english... as you've noticed english is not my native language.

Devs have already stated this is WAI. People who paid real money buying the Hoth Bros Pack found out about this and have raised this complaint days ago.

Well if these are just filler gear pieces (which is essentially what you are saying) why do they need to be as painful to obtain as gear that actually does something for the character. That is to me the main issue why spend time grinding out 300+ salvage for essentially useless gear.

Chirrut and Baze, who I did spend a while getting, but I use them in a Rogue One team so they already do everything they need to without G12, heal and dispel enemies

I agree and don't plan on it personally. There is just something wrong with adding 300+ more salvage pieces to a character that only gets them a bump in protection.
