Is he useful at all in any squad without baze? I've started farming him but my light side is no where close to getting baze so I'm wondering if anyone has found him useful in any other team comps.

Without baze he's not even worth considering IMO.

I tried a couple matches, he's so squishy without baze, and there's not as much annoying taunt happening, it's really night and day difference

I'm trying to decide if he'd be worth gearing up for the light side nodes, was considering wedge, biggs, sthan, Lando and chirrut, maybe I can find a someone with baze and put him as ls leader lol

You might find some use for him outside of Arena. He has some potential value in GW with a taunt (like ST Han) protecting him... but you really want Baze to roll with him in Arena.
