Has CG ever mentioned whether the 7* limit is a hard cap? Or are there plans to increase the star cap in the future?

Yes they said 7* is a hard cap.

Hence the shard shop.

I sure hope not! 150-200 shards for the next tier and 2m to increase, no thanks 7* is plenty.
