Characters has 3 next to it, can't find what to do next

On my main screen the characters has the number 3 next to it but I can't find what to upgrade, I have no training droids so it's not that, any ideas what it could be?

    Options
    Skills. Click into character and look at their skill list. Should be able to upgrade their attacks.
