Clarity on benefits 'for {faction} allies' abilities

Can someone confirm. If a character provides an ability for allies within a faction AND THEY ARE ALSO PART OF THE FACTION, do they receive the benefits too?

Example would be r2:

Combat Analysis states: 'While R2D2 is active all allies gain...' I assume that means r2 is included.

Number Crunch states: 'At the start of battle all...other...allies' presume other means r2 doesn't get it.

Imperial troopers too I assume each one where ability is given to imperial trooper allies it includes them.

Basically is there an official naming convention for this?
