Shards not adding after redemption?

This might well be user error, but I think shards are not being added to my total.
Issue: When redeeming Eeth Koth shards for arena tokens, and after clicking through the redeem page, the shards are not added in the player's total.
Has this happened to others?
I'm traveling and with spotty internet, so what I think is happening is that from the user side, after I click on the redemption, the shards are 'added' and the button grays out. But then somehow the shards don't register in the counter total.
I'll try to replicate it with video. Happy to have a conversation with a dev.
