My $10 idea to replace data cards!!

Hi Guys,

My idea to replace data cards is to simply make new characters or these chromium characters $10 each ( ability to pick the one you want) and they would unlock at 4* so they would be use able straight away, and remain useable for players who cant afford to 7* them. after unlocking the character every purchase after would give you 50 shards for that character for $10, it would then cost $60 to 7* a character.

Players get the exact character they want, and EA make a ton of money. Everyone's happy.

I'm totally F2P and would never spend money on random items, but if it was this way I'd need a bank loan for all my purchases lol.

Give it try EA what you got to lose....

You cant just buy characters because then it gives the whales a massive advantage any character you want you can just buy. And not only buy but get to seven stars and that would defeat the whole purpose of the game of farming for shards and putting in work to get a new character this is extremely lazy and what ea has to lose is a ton of people who play the app

My post is aimed at the chromium characters not farm able ones in the game, a lot of people can't spend thousands on packs, but $10 for one chromium characters means they can also enjoy the chromium characters and not feel alienated from this part of the game. I really want Rex but I can't afford to gamble on data packs, but if I could buy him directly I would.

Its a good idea on that sense but you have to look at the bigger picture whales will take that and run away with it making all of the chromium premium characters seven stars and ea loses hundreds of dollars

Probability is what makes them money, not our love for characters. The chances I get the player I want everytime I open a pack is slim to none. I could spend $100 and never get the one I'm aiming for. It if I did it your way I'd have my 2 favorite at 7 stars already. They would make money fast, but not for long. Business may boom for the first day but no one would buy anything else after that. This game, other games, casino's, and many other things run off of quantum mechanics. They know what they are doing, and it works.

Unfortunately, $10 would be completely out of whack with the regular price of a character.

Even just the bundles they offer, characters cost many times that right now.

A 4 star character normally costs 80 shards. The shipment price is 1 shard per 50 crystals. A 4 star should theoretically cost 4000 crystals if not more. Even if they offered characters directly for sale, the price would be closer to $20-30 per character.

If there was a toon I really wanted, I might drop $20 on them. Maybe. I wouldn't spend it on non farmable ones though. Getting a chromium only toon is just begging yourself to spend more than you plan lol. But it's an interesting idea.

Well if we want to get technical, the way you obtain the cards & the chances of getting a drop you want is classified as gambling.
Now this is more so as you spend real money to convert to crystals which are used to get the packs. This is the same as putting money in a slot machine and it converts it into a certain amount of spins.

Now depending on the country you live in, gambling is either illegal or strictly regulated and you have to be over a certain age to participate.

Here's the fun bit - a few large companies are being investigated due to this sort of behaviour from game makers. And if you do a bit of digging, complaints to relevant bodies are increasing 10 fold due to the way companies are operating and underage people buying these items & running up big debts.

Simplest solution is to just get rid of the packs and put a price on each character / item. It's then down to the individual as to whether they want to purchase them or not.
No odds involved & removes the gambling element from the game.
