If you kill the leader but the rest of the squad survives for another fight?

Is it possible to get some dev clarification on this? I've poked around these forums and on reddit, and I can't find a clear answer. People are saying at least three different scenarios happen when you fight the squad again (in GW or TW):
A) The original leader's ability still applies.
The toon in the second slot becomes the new leader, and if they have a leader ability, it now applies.
C) The squad now has no leader ability at all.
I think that B is the case, but lots of people confidently assert C, and some still say A. Does anyone actually know for sure?
